Why Casey, Why? (Open) - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Why Casey, Why? (Open)   Why Casey, Why? (Open) - Page 2 EmptySun May 08, 2016 2:21 am

Humphrey was caught off guard by the incredulous looks he got from the two females. Was it really so hard to believe that he actually enjoyed talking to Brooklyn? Thinking about it, he figured perhaps he was a bit touched in the head; but, he didn't really care because she was fun. Sure, she made fun of him some but teasing was kind of the way people his age made friends. "So I see, though really it shouldn't be so surprising in my opinion. You're rather clever, and funny sometimes." he said with a shrug, really not getting what the big deal was. If she wanted rid of him she could say so, as of yet Brooklyn had not so he wasn't going anywhere.

The Slytherin seemed endlessly amused by his story, and he laughed some simply because she was. Humphrey looked at her curiously, before replying to what she'd said. "Yeah, she's difficult but also my best friend. She's also too darn cute, it's hard to stay mad at her when she turns those baby blue eyes on me." he grumbled. "What exactly did you find so funny about the story, if I may ask?" He was kind of curious to hear what it was, whether it had been the idea of him getting hurt or just the way it had happened instead. It was kind of hard to read her at times.

Hearing Brooklyn claim to be the worst of them all had Humphrey looking at her with a dubious expression. "What exactly makes you the worst? You seem a lot nicer than some of the girls I've met." he said bluntly, and waited to hear her explanation. It was then that she used the name Humpty Dumpty instead of boy and his cheeks turned a bright pink before he groaned. Walked right into that one, didn't I? He would be a good sport about it, though, because it was his own fault. "Ohh Casey's going to pay for letting that name slip." he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes as possible pranks he could pull on his sister whirled through his brain. Her saying she wouldn't know brought him out of it though, and he simply nodded. "So, what are your hobbies?" he asked, deciding to change the subject to something she could be included in.

When he talked about how she was clever and funny sometimes, she flipped her long dark brown hair over her shoulder and smiled. Yes she seemed insecure just now but that didn't matter to her, she was who she was and there was no changing who she was at all. The Slytherin pointed her finger at him. "You had me at clever and funny, but the sometimes needs to be taken out of that equation" she said as her hand went back down to her side. There was no way that she wasn't clever and funny all the time, that is barbaric if people added sometimes like Humphrey had just did. But she would let it slide.

She listened to Humphrey explain how his sister was also his best friend and that she was too darn cute to stay mad at, she didn't know what it was like to have siblings nor a best friend so there was no relating herself to him. When he asked what she found funny about the story she thought about it and walked closer to him so she was standing right in front of him. No matter what the age difference was between the two, he was still taller then her. "It could have been the falling that was funny or the name she gave you afterwards" she said until she was right in front of him. She had to crane her neck a little bit and look up at him. "But it was the fact that no matter how embarrassed you were about the whole thing, you still got back up and didn't care. And also the fact that you climbed the tree in the first place" she grinned and giggled a little bit.

"Because you haven't met all of me. When you find out the rest about me or the side of me a lot of people see you will run for the hills Humphrey. Trust me when I say this, everyone leaves and I gave up hope and faith a long time ago and it isn't coming back" she explained to him. She could be worse and a lot of people knew that about her but it was when that side came out of her that was the time ticker. She smirked when he said his sister was going to pay for the name slip. "It could me a worse name Humpty" she grinned. When he asked about her hobbies, she shrugged. "Shopping."

Why Casey, Why? (Open) - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Why Casey, Why? (Open)   Why Casey, Why? (Open) - Page 2 EmptySun May 08, 2016 6:34 pm

Upon seeing her flip her hair and smiling, Humphrey couldn't help letting out a giggle at the sight. Her confidence in being clever and funny all the time wasn't unexpected, but he smirked at her. "You'll have to do a little work to get rid of the sometimes, I'm afraid. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get there in the end." he said, his eyes challenging her a little as he spoke. Brooklyn was already ages ahead of most students close to his age, but he couldn't simply let her get a big head now could he? Casey kept him from getting cocky, perhaps he could do that for her. At the least he could try, and if he ended up getting hexed irritating her would probably be worth it.

Listening carefully when she explained what had been so funny about it, he blushed a little. Part of it had sounded like a compliment but Brooklyn seemed to find it amusing. Humphrey simply shrugged, he was in Hufflepuff because he didn't give up on things so he wasn't sure why him trying again was so funny. Maybe it was something only a girl would understand, he could ask Casey later about it. The last sentence made him huff a little before responding. Using his height to his advantage, he looked down at her into her eyes not backing down. "Well, I can't exactly let my little sister beat me without a fight, now can I? She has to earn her stripes." he said, chuckling a little. "Watch out for us when she starts Hogwarts next year, we are a pretty incredible pranking team." he warned her with a wink. Most they would probably surprise with the pranks themselves, but he figured she could have a heads-up.

Humphrey couldn't help frowning as Brooklyn explained how he would run from her when he found out what she was really like. It made him angry, both because of her experiences, and also that he thought she would simply bail on her like that. "Listen, and listen carefully Brooklyn, I'm not going anywhere. We decided to be friends, and friends stick by each other. If that's not what you are used to I'm sorry, but you'll have to adjust. The only way I'm going to stop being your friend is if you tell me you don't want me around. Understand?" he asked, after explaining what he wanted to tell her slowly and clearly. He didn't want there to be any confusion about what having him as her friend was going to be like. When she said it could be worse he winced, but nodded in agreement. "True. You don't have any embarrassing nicknames do you?" he asked, a little hopefully. Perhaps if she told him one they'd be on a more even playing field with the teasing. "What kind of shopping? Or, is it all kinds?"

She nodded because she would get rid of that sometimes, there was no sometimes when it came to being funny and to being clever, hell if she had a middle name it would be clever, but since her mother never gave her a middle name it didn't matter what it was. "Yeah whatever Humpty Dumpty, that sometimes will be out of the equation in a day if I have it my way... which I will" she replied with a smirk. Brooklyn was a force to be messed with and she never backed down from a challenge no matter what. She knew she was being cocky but it was one of her best qualities and it was how it was going to stay.

She began playing with the end of his shirt when started talking about how his younger sister had to earn her stripes. She wanted to believe that but from what she has seen from the younger girl she knew her stripes had been earned a long time ago. "Interesting" she replied as she looked at Humphrey but continued to play with the bottom of his shirt. Brooklyn smirked and got closer so they were chest to chest and nose to nose. This was one challenge she wasn't backing down from and it was going to stay that way. "I have nothing to worry about Humphrey, I can take both of you if I need to" she sort of let her lips brush against his but it was like a feather touch, she released his shirt and backed up a little bit to give them some space.

When he mentioned how he wouldn't leave until she asked him to, she was shocked as hell at what she was hearing. "You're the first person to say that to me Humphrey" she knew that no matter how much she wanted to deny it, that he was a true friend and wouldn't leave her side until she asked him to. When he asked if she had any nicknames she shrugged. "Probably Brookey, it's what my grandmother calls me sometimes" Brooke shrugged, there was a little bit of nicknames she could be called but that was it. "Well clothes and shoe shopping is the best kind of shopping. What about your hobbies?"

Humphrey simply shrugged at her declaration, waiting to see the proof of it before caving. If she stepped up her game then Humphrey would admit that she was always clever and funny, but not until then. He took a moment to think of how he wanted to phrase his reply, trying to tease her some more. "Alright, try not to strain yourself thinking too much though. Wouldn't want to damage anything before school starts." he quipped, knowing he was walking a very dangerous line but enjoying it. Brooklyn was definitely going to get back at him for that comment, he was sure, Humphrey couldn't help it when the thought had struck him though. His smart mouth had gotten him into trouble before, and he knew it would most likely continue to do so.

To his surprise he felt the girl take the bottom of his shirt and begin fiddling with it. Humphrey wasn't really used to having a girl this close to him, but he didn't want to move further away. "Umm, what's interesting?" he asked, not following her train of thought. She got even closer and he began to feel a little nervous, not sure what the other girl was thinking by doing it. Her saying she could take them both on made his eyes twinkle a little with mischief. "Oh, you really don't know what you are getting yourself into." he said, smirking. Before he had a chance to enlighten her though Brooklyn leaned in and lightly brushed her lips against his own. Immediately his cheeks began to turn red, and he simply looked at her in shock. She let go of his shirt and backed up, and he simply stared, not really understanding what had just happened. "Wh-what was that for?" he asked, reaching up and brushing his lips lightly with his fingers. Did he just have his first kiss? Does that even count as a first kiss?

Casey, being the sneaky sister that she was, had sneaked back and witnessed when Brooklyn began getting closer. It was moving a lot differently than she had expected, when she'd told Humphrey he needed to find a girlfriend she had definitely not thought the next girl near his age would be a candidate. The little girl's mouth dropped open when she actually kissed her big brother, and she barely managed to hear the question he asked after it. "You idiot! It's because she likes you." she told him, stepping out from behind some cloaks and putting her hands on her hips. "Now, are you going to do something about it or just stand there Humphy?" she asked, tapping her foot impatiently.

Humphrey had kind of expected the shock upon hearing that after what she'd told him, and he gave her a reassuring smile. Acting on instinct, he reached out and hugged her for a moment before letting go. "Sorry to hear that, hopefully you'll find some other good friends too." he told her. Her nickname of Brookey was by no means embarrassing, so he decided he would just have to work on one for her. "I'll have to put some thought into it, then. Maybe by the time school starts I'll have a good one." he replied. She asked about his hobbies and he scratched his head as he thought. "Got quite a few. Love reading, writing, running, hiking, building things, drawing, singing, sometimes dancing, playing pranks with Casey, flying, and being silly to name a few." he said, listing them off. "Also kind of love learning, although that may be a little geeky of me." he admitted sheepishly.

Brooklyn looked at him with her mouth open, did he seriously just say that to her? Really?! She was great at what she did and no matter what anyone said she would succeed but then she kind of figured that he was just trying to get a rise out of her and she wasn't going to give him that satisfaction no matter what he said or did. "Oh really Dumpty, we'll see about that and besides my brain doesn't get damaged until at school where the learning begins for your information" Brooklyn hated school and it sucked she was only in her third year, just a few more years and she'd be out of there and waiting to get a job.

When Humphrey asked her what was interesting, she shrugged and replied simply. "I would have thought your darling little sister would have earned her stripes before you, not the other way around" she smirked because she wanted to try to get a little bit of a rise from him, but from the way he was, it would be a long shot. "I think I know exactly what I'm getting myself into, it's you that doesn't know my darling friend" Brooklyn replied. Score for Brooklyn!! She got a reaction from him and she literally had to stop herself from doing a happy dance from his confusion. All she could do was shrug and grin.

Casey came back over and all Brooklyn could do was just stare at the young girl, was she serious? Brooklyn didn't like anybody! It was people who liked her but not the other way around. "Kid, you're mistaken on that. I just met your big brother so how could I like him that quick?" Brooklyn asked. She knew this little girl was anything but dumb but Brooklyn did what she did to see that blush once again. That was it.

She rolled her eyes when Humphrey said he had to put thought into her nickname that he would call her. "Oh I bet you will Humpty Dumpty" she grinned some more. This was going to be interesting because nothing was as embarrassing as Humpty Dumpty and everyone knew that. When the young boy began listing his hobbies, she was confused on how a young boy would have so many... hell she didn't even have that many. "That's a lot."
