| With the impending birth of his second child, Jake's time had been taken up with the preparations for their arrival. This meant that he'd been told to take time off by the Ministry, and also Professor Jameson. Jake had, rather guiltily, taken up the offer of the former, but not the latter. Whilst a substitute teacher could have been filled, Jake could not do that to his kids. So, instead, he'd brought all of the kids together, just for this lesson.
Hopefully, they would enjoy the practical lesson Jake had planned for them today.
After sending everyone who had signed up for the class a note to meet him out in the grounds, Jake had made his way there to set up. He knew the kids loved a challenge, and today was going to be no different. Although, this time, Jake had concealed it from view to keep them guessing.
Taking a seat on the warm ground, Jake waited for his students to arrive, enjoying the last remnants of the sun whilst he had the chance. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| It was last year in Hogwarts for Adeline and she wasn't sure what to expect from it. So far she have loved to come here and learn so many things for sure. She actually liked to be here more than at home for sure but of course she didn't say it to everyone. She just all her friends were here in this school and she barely met them awhile they were on holiday. Also Adel haven't yet figured what she wants to do once she graduates.
She was bit of surprised when she realized that he DADA lesson is held on grounds. She walked there and wondered what they would to do today then. Also seemed that everyone needed to be here for this lesson, all years. She didn't really mind it. She did get along with almost every year for sure. She walked over where professor was. She have heard that he would have soon second child but it wasn't her business really. "Hello," she said with a small smile on her face and took a seat on the grass too awhile they waited everyone else to get here. |

| Being back in the castle was awesome for Max, he loved Hogwarts more than he could possibly say, and Freddo definitely seemed more settled now they were back in the castle. Although, Max had noticed that his (not so) little fluffball had been missing for the first night or two - where he had been, Max could only guess, but as of yet, he hadn't had any complaints from anyone in the castle.
Freddo had found his way back, though, and was keeping Max company in his free time by making him pet the cat unrelentingly.
Which was what Max had been doing just before he had to head down to the Defence Against the Dark Arts - which was in the grounds today. Freddo had been indignant at the explanation Max had given for leaving, but after Max had given him a treat, he seemed to settle down quite a bit.
As Max headed down to the grounds, he kept an eye out for Elyah, wondering whether she would be attending the class today. Max had kept in touch via letter over the holidays (he was not going to upset her this summer) so he knew she'd had a good time with her dad. Max, however, still wanted to talk through all of this once more.
"Morning, pr- Jake!" Max greeted the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor happily, looking around to try to see what they were doing, only to draw a blank. How odd, Max thought to himself, waiting for someone to ask the question he was bursting to know the answer to. |

| Isaline had always been impartial to Defense Against the Dark Arts. Unlike most of the professors at the school, Professor Newbury always seemed to put thought into challenging each of the students that attended his class. She never understood why some educators were more focused on reviewing and skill building. Teaching the same things over and over again could never help one to grow as much as learning new skills could.
But even though Isaline enjoyed a challenge, she was not one to enjoy a change of plans. She believed that once a plan was made, it was written in stone.
When she got notice that Defense Against the Dark Arts would take place outside today, what excitement she had towards the class grew dull. Plans had been made to have class inside of a classroom. Did the professor believe that it would be fun to mix things up? Mixing it up was not fun.
Despite her grievences, Isaline made her way outside to where the class was meeting. |

| Alexander had so much fun at summer. He even did spend time with his twin what wasn't so bad after all but yeah he still can't stand him at times. Mostly when he nags about that he should study more and so on. He just doesn't like to study that much as his twin. He just can't sit still and do his homework for hours. He just can't.
Since Alex knew he needs to take some classes to rank up for next year and it was only reason why she was walking towards grounds where DADA lesson was held. Other reasons he wouldn't really attend to any classes if he just could pass his years without them. DADA was one of classes at times he could stand. He wasn't for sure the best one there but same time wasn't the worst one.
He soon finally reached his destination he just did stand away from everyone else. Boy didn't even bother to say hello to professor. Not her thing to do really. He wasn't really the politest one for sure. He just wanted this class to be over soon, so he could go and to do something much more fun but boy wasn't sure yet what it was. |

| Professor Newbury - or Jake as he preferred - always kept his classes on their toes, something for which Finley was grateful for. It stopped classes from becoming boring (not that Finley found any class to be boring, but anyway) and gave Finley a new challenge. Although, magic in itself was difficult enough for Finley at times without being thrown sideways by a change of scenery.
Today, however, Finley was in high spirits and absolutely ready to jump in to the lesson. With a spring in his step, Finley hurried down to their new meeting place wondering what the professor had in store. Hopefully it was not going to be one of his obstacle courses, because Finley found those very stressful. His anxiety levels peaked when the mention of a obstacle course came up.
As of yet, though, Finley had not been told of one.
Arriving at the lesson, Finley sent a smile towards Jake - a universal understanding between them made sure that Jake knew he wasn't rude, just uncomfortable with public speaking. After that, his eyes landed on Isaline, and he moved to the witch's side. "H-hi." The Head Boy murmured to her with a small smile on his lips. She was so, so pretty, and probably one of his few friends within his classes. |

| "Good morning everyone!" Jake greeted the class as a whole once they were all assembled around him. "I trust you all enjoyed your summers and you're well rested?" Jake asked, though he assumed everyone's answer was in the general consensus of yes. "Today, however, we're jumping straight in to things, so I need you to be very alert, okay?" Jake prompted, looking around the faces before him.
"So, today's lesson is outside - why, you might ask? Well, even a magically enlarged classroom would not be big enough for our needs..." Jake paused for dramatic effect before flicking his wand behind him to reveal the secret that was today's lesson.
"Blast-ended Skrewts!" Jake explained as the creatures were revealed behind him. "I'm sure you've all heard of them, today were going to learn to combat them. Now, does anyone have any idea how to defeat them?" He prompted, looking around the faces before him for the answers he was hoping to receive. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| Adeline waited until the lesson was started and wondered what they will really learn here at the start of lesson still. She kept listening what professor said to everyone. When she heard his words she was a bit of surprised from this. She didn't really expect this.
She tried to remember what she membered about this creature but there wasn't that much for sure. She hoped that someone else would answer his question but seemed like no one really knew the answer.
"Well Blast-Ended Skrewt's only undefended spot seems to be it armour-less underside but not sure exactly how to get near it. So probably this isn't answer you're looking for but at least it's something," Adeline said there now something. She has read about it somewhere and she wasn't sure if it really answered for to question how to defeat it. At least she gave some kind of answer so they could continue with the lesson. |

| As someone spoke up to answer his question, Jake turned his attention to the witch and listened intently to her answer, nodding along to show that she was on the right lines with her answer. "Your answer is very good, Adeline!" Jake insisted as the witch ended on something that showed her confidence was not nearly high enough with her answer.
"The best - and possibly only way for people of your level of magical ability - to defeat a Blast Ended Skrewt is to attack their bellies. A knock-back jinx will work as a large enough deterrent to the beast, so that will be your aim. Of course, as you may note from the creatures behind me, this may not be as simple as it first sounds. So... I will give you the clue of using a combination of spells to defeat the beasts." Jake told them. Spoon feeding students was never going to be a good way to teach, learning from mistakes was.
"Once you're ready, please step forward and attempt to defeat a Blast Ended Skrewt. Be mindful of their blasts, though. Don't leave yourself exposed to them!" Jake insisted, beckoning them all forward to give this task a go. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~
