| Lynx walked into the class, since there were no students it was quiet, just the way he liked it. He took a seat behind his desk as he began reading the Daily Prophet, it seemed that another Ministry worker had been charged with fraud, this didn't surprise the man in the least.
As Lynx flicked through his paper he was hoping that the students weren't expecting a bright and bubbly professor, as for to see Lynx smile is something which only very few people have witnessed. And if truth was told Lynx didn't much care for children either, he had a very clear stereotype that all children were loud and obnoxious, but to be fair every child which Lynx had met in his life so far had proved him right.
The man tossed a glance down at his watch and noticed that it was almost time for the students to start arriving, he let out a groan at this thought. |

| When Charms had come up on Finley's timetable for the day, he'd hoped that it wouldn't (at least) be an embarrassing ordeal for him. Magic was not his strong point, it never really had been, theory was where his capabilities led. But, he knew that he couldn't always have things the way he liked them.
With his bag packed with his Charms book, a notebook and a quill, Finley hurried down to the third floor where the Charms class was situated. Merlin he hoped he wasn't late... That would leave such an awful impression and he really didn't wish to do such things...
Hurrying in to the classroom, Finley found it empty and let out a sigh of relief. Well, empty except for the professor. "G-good morning, professor." Finley acknowledged the man at the front of the room with a small smile before taking his seat at the front. Finley busied himself with getting everything set on his desk, neatly arranged and just so.
He wouldn't talk anymore than that, Finley was much too shy for that. |

| Lynx looked up as he saw a student enter, he then quickly looked back to his paper, the man thought he heard the boy mumble a good morning but his voice was too quiet to be heard properly.
After the man had casually finished reading the paper he placed it down and stared at the boy "Well lucky you looks like you get a one on one lesson, so please hold back the joy" Lynx said dryly
Lynx stood up slowly and walked around to the front of his desk "Im Professor Vane, today we will be learning the levitation charm, a highly useful charm which can be used to levitate objects which are out of reach as well as moving objects out of your way. This charm is one which many witches and wizards use on an almost daily basis, so I suggest you pay attention" he said sharply
"The levitation charm is often referred to by its incantation, since you Ravenclaws are supposed to be knowledgable, won't you enlighten me as to what the incantation is for this charm?" Lynx asked as he leaned back on his desk and folded his arms |

| It wasn't as though it was even supposed to be her class, but Melody had been hit with a wave of rather bad cramps (she was the first of the two to start, and Maddie was still in that lucky position of not having Mother Nature come a-calling yet). This meant that Madison was to take her place, but it wasn't as though it really mattered; they were due to get a new Professor, so there would be no need for acting on her behalf - all she needed to do was introduce herself as Melody.
Entering class, she was just in time to hear him talking so rudely to - of all people - Finley. Now, she was quite a generous person (or so she thought) but if there was one thing she did not share it was her toys. Okay, she shared them with Melody, but as they were twins, there was no real sharing; what belonged to one naturally belongs to the other. But other people, however, were not to mess with what was hers - or theirs, depending on how one saw it.
So, already taking a disliking to the professor, she quickly moved down the isle and took her seat next to Finley. With a slight nod towards the man, she turned to the Ravenclaw and, in not too quiet a tone, asked, "Isn't lesson not due to start for at least another five minutes?" Her tone was innocent, and she purposely gave a smile to match.
Now adjusting her gaze so she was looking at the Professor, she very calmly and politely said, "It's wingardium leviosa, Sir. Anyone who reads the books should know - not necessarily just a Ravenclaw." Making sure that she maintained an innocent look on her features, she smiled again at the man, making a mental note to tell Melody to come up with plans to reign hell on him. |

| With a few minutes left till the bell Felix raced along the corridor sounding more ike a lone stampede of hippogryphs than a first year. She'd forgotten her school trousers in favour of slightly thicker black jeans to stave off the cold, she hoped no one would notice and bounced off the door, giving herself a headache as she stumbled into the first seat available with a mantra of 'Ow ow ow ow ow dammit ow!'
She nursed the bump on her head with her palm, which didn't really help but it was a bad habit she couldn't break so easily. "Sorry Professor, I thought I was running late. Ow..." She pouted at the door as if it was at fault for being in her way, once she was done with that she looked at the teacher then the board and back again, already digging in her robe pocket for her wand and the other hand up to her elbow in her bag looking for her book, which..just so happened to be on her bed under her pillow. Dammit. |

| Of all the things Finley hadn't been expecting, it was a class on his own. That was, personally, the worst nightmare for a boy like Finley. Having to talk to someone he didn't know, or even trust would be like choking. So when the man started, Finley was already feeling sick, especially when the sarcasm was rolling off the man in waves.
"The levitation charm is often referred to by its incantation, since you Ravenclaws are supposed to be knowledgable, won't you enlighten me as to what the incantation is for this charm?"
Finley wanted to tell the man everything he knew, but he was trembling. His throat felt tight, almost as if he couldn't breath. And he also felt like he was being pushed in to a corner by the stereotypes people followed. Yes, he was clever, yes he read a lot, but he was a second year, and he had a long way to go. But to Finley's relief, two more students hurried in to the room.
Even in that moment, Finley was almost happy to see Madison Bishop enter the room. Because even if she scared him a lot (not that that was difficult with Finley) she could answer for him. And Felix, well, she seemed nice, though Finley didn't know too much about the Gryffindor.
"Isn't lesson not due to start for at least another five minutes?"
Finley shrugged a little at the Slytherin, not wanting to talk in case the professor got mad. But, perhaps he wouldn't seeing as Madison gave an answer not a moment later. Instead of saying anything, Finley pulled his notebook closer, and scribbled the word "Thank you" in the margin, making sure Madison saw before he actually wrote down notes that he could refer to. |

| Just as Lynx had finished speaking he noticed a Slytherin girl walk in, he heard her mention that the class was not meant to start for another five minutes, this instantly angered the man, he could not stand obnoxious children, in fact he could stand children at the best of times, however she did produce a satisfactory answer.
It wasn't long after that until he saw another student walk in and make a loud entrance as she hit her head on the door, he passed a cold glance over to her and figured he would deal with her in a moment "That answer is correct, you can take 5 points to Slytherin, it is refreshing to see you can read a textbook better than you can read a clock" the man said sharply
His attention then turned to the Gryffindor girl "You are indeed late, come late again to my class and you will find yourself in detention and the loss of 5 house points, that goes for all of you" Lynx said as he stared at each student
"Right to cast this charm you hold your wand lightly and move it up and down in one smooth motion and say the incantation Wingardium Leviosa. When I was a student here the Professor had us practicing with feathers, needless to say that Professor was an idiot, how can you master the charm if you do not push yourself, therefore you shall practice on your textbooks"
Lynx then paused and a grimace appeared on his face "I certainly do hope you all brought your textbooks with you" he said, almost daring someone to say they had forgotten theirs. |

| Oh great start Felix! She winced at the threat of detention and house point deduction. Sinking low in her chair, and loosing colour in her face considerably when the professor told them they'd practice on their textbooks. Hmm perhaps she could get away with using a different book? Somehow she doubted it but she had very little other choice. She pulled the only other book she had out of her bag.
She blinked at it and blushed, it was a muggle fiction she'd brought with her, Robin Hood. Realising she must've switched the books by mistake and now feeling heat rush to her cheeks. "Uh Professor, I think I picked up the wrong book.I'm so sorry. Can I practice on this instead?" She asked, being unusually quiet, not sure how he'd react. She'd take a detention so long as she didn't have to trek all the way back to swap the books again, as much as she loved running around the castle there was only so much energy she could spend in a short time. |

| Lynx's eyes quickly fixed on the Gryffindor girl who said that she didn't have the right book. The man slowly turned around to face her, he began walking towards her his eyes firmly fixed on her like a snake hunting a field mouse.
"Well well well, you Gryffindor's surely are brave. Thinking you can just come into my class with the wrong book!" Lynx exclaimed he then pulled out his wand and with two sharp flicks of his wand he summoned a spare textbook from a nearby cupboard, the book came sailing swiftly through the air and landed perfectly in his open palm.
Lynx then held the book close to the girl's face "Can you see what that says? it says A Standard Book of Spells, do you think perhaps you might need this when coming to a charms class?!" The man said angrily.
After staring at the girl for a few seconds he slammed the textbook down in front of her "You will use this spare textbook" Lynx said before he turned around and made his way back to the front of the class
"I don't see many charms being cast" he said coldly as he walked to the front of the room. |

| Instead of cowering like a cornered mouse, Felix stuck out her bottom lip and sat up straight, glaring right back at the professor. Really was there any need to be such a grumpy git? People made mistakes, especially first thing in the morning, when it's cold and your head still wants to be asleep. Git.
She huffed, and just about managed to not flinch at the biting comment and having the spare book slammed in front of her. Really who did this guy think he was dealing with?! She kept on glaring till he'd turned around then stuck out her tongue, crossing her arms over her chest coming up with a varying and colourful list of names she'd like to call the grumpy git. Grumpy git being the most tame of the whole list. Charms was quickly added to her least favourite lesson but since it was compulsory she had to tough it out, and if there was something felix did best it was toughing stuff out.
Right then, levitation charm. Sounded simple enough, just to make sure she found the page the spell was on in the book then closed it, putting her other book back into her bag and finding her wand from her robe pocket. She checked the diagram again, closed the book and sighed attempting the spell. It took three tries, and all she managed was to make the book wobble.
On the fourth it shot up and almost hit the ceiling but she dropped it and caught it on the fifth spell attempt. Satisfied she grinned smugly and held the book in place, looking for the professor again and daring him to make a comment silently. That's right I got this, now what? She thought. |
