With Christmas nearly here, Jake was very excited. Time with his family was a treasure, a treasure that he did not get to savour nearly enough. Work, however, was almost as important to Jake, and though he felt bad for leaving Veronika often, he could not not work in the Ministry. Or the school.
It was a part of him.
Jake's lesson plan had been done some time, and in the middle of the room sat a trunk. It rattled occasionally, but other than that, the room held no clues as to the subject of the lesson. Some students might guess, but it didn't matter if they could not. Sitting atop his desk, Jake sat watching the trunk that was the only other peice of furniture in the room. Waiting, patiently, for his students to arrive so they could have a highly practical lesson.
Oh, and of course, Jake had laid out a mixture of Santa hats and elf ears, chocolate beside each one, as a small Christmas treat for the whole room. Jake, personally, had a pair of antlers atop his head. He loved Christmas, and he was most certainly not going to pretend otherwise. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| With Christmas nearly here, Nirek was looking forward to the time away from lessons. Though he did not celebrate the holiday, he was gifted with the free time. Caramarienne's birthday was the twenty-fifth, too, so Nirek had to get her both a Christmas present (for she did celebrate) and a birthday present. That, however would be the next trip to Hogsmeade.
Today, however, he was stuck with the fact he had to attend lessons. Descending the steps from the Gryffindor common room, Nirek slipped through the door and took in the trunk in the middle of the room, and then the festive hats. Smiling to himself, Nirek picked up a pair of elf ears, and the chocolate, before turning his attention back to the professor.
"Thanks for this, Jake." The younger male acknowledged the gift, opening the chocolate and devouring it whilst he waited for others to arrive. |

| DADA was literally Prim's favourite subject out of them all; there was not one lesson of DADA that she missed nor was there any piece of homework that she did not up to at least an EE standard. The subject was her passion and many people thought that she would either join the Auror force when she graduated or she would try to get a Mastery. In truth what Prim wanted was to graduate Hogwarts with O's in DADA, get a DADA Mastery and then join the Hit Wizard force.
Making her way into the classroom and with Max's wrist clamped in her hand she beamed at Jake. "Hey Jake, it suits you!" She waved her hand as she let go of Max's wrist and skipped over to where the Santa hats and elf ears were, grabbing the Santa hat for Max while she grabbed some elf ears for herself.
Turning back to her friend she didn't even give him any time to protest before she placed the hat on his head and then the ears on her own. "You look cute in that Max." She teased as she handed him the chocolate that she also picked up.
"Your hat suits you too, Kapoor." The fourth year nodded her head in greeting to the Seventh year Gryffindor. |

| Defence Against the Dark Arts was quite a difficult class. Okay, it wasn't as difficult as Potions, and the professor was really good. But some of the things they looked in to in this lesson had complexities that Max had to struggle through to master. It wasn't that he couldn't do it, no, it was just that sometimes he wasn't decisive enough to know what he wanted to do.
Following Prim to Jake's classroom, Max wondered idly what they would be doing this lesson. Hopefully something fun, what with it being Christmas time. As they arrived, Max was adorned with a Santa's hat, and couldn't help but smile as he took the chocolate. "Cute?" Max asked, chuckling and shaking his head. "You look rather silly, if you ask me!" He insisted, but his laugh showed that he was only teasing her.
"Hey Jake." Max added to the professor, holding up his chocolate. "Thanks!" He added, putting it in his bag for later. Best not to have too many e-numbers before class began. |

| Christmas was approaching which meant the being alone again a home or then staying her in Hogwarts with a bunch of other students who don't go home. People all around her seemed to really enjoy this holiday but not Delilah. She hated it actually. She began to hate it after her mother died because holiday without family isn't fun and when you don't even get any gifts because simply your father forgets it then yeah. She hates this coming holiday.
Anyways she walked into the DADA lesson. One of the lessons what she liked actually even if she wasn't that good in it. "Hello," she said with a small smile on her face which was a fake one. She really wasn't in the happy mood today. Since everyone around her kept talking about how much fun they will have in Christmas holiday. And she saw all that Christmas stuff. She walked over it and took from there just chocolate. She didn't really care about that other stuff. She didn't find a joy in Christmas. She probably was one of few who didn't like it. She just even can't pretend she likes the holiday. |

| It was growing frightfully close to Christmas, which meant one of two things. Staying at Hogwarts and being stone cold bored because Merlin knew Ellie would be going home to her army of a family, and he'd be stuck with Cara and Elenore. Or, he could go home, and be stone cold bored as he dealt with the illustrious parties his parents would undoubtedly throw, and he'd be stuck with Cara and Elenore. Either way, he was not going to enjoy the season.
Stepping in to Defence Against the Dark Arts, though, it seemed like Professor Newbury (of the male variety) was in the mood for the season. Taking in the hats laid out with chocolate, Jacques moved to the side of the room without picking one up. Placing his bag on the floor beside him, the Frenchman waited patiently for the lesson to begin. He was quite sure that Professor Newbury would have at least chosen something fun.
Noting the shaking of the trunk, Jacques' eyes turned to the box, mild curiosity playing on his features as he... guessed, he knew what might be in there. ________________________________________________

| Lux eyed the trunk in the room the moment she stepped in. Her jaw clenched as she gave it a death glare. If it was what she thought it was, she was determined to not let it affect her again. The previous boggart had blindsided her and she hadn't been ready for it. If it was a boggart in that trunk, she had an idea of what to expect and would not let it get the better of her. After breaking down in that memorable DADA class, she'd renewed her vow to never cry again, and she was determined to keep it this time.
Sparing a glance at the things Jake had laid out, Lux grabbed a handful of chocolates - because nobody could resist the perfection that was chocolate - and made her way to the back to the classroom. Her ears picked up the conversation that was going on and the words of one particular female Gryffindor.
"You all look downright ridiculous!" she called out, rolling her eyes. She wanted to make a jab at Jake for wearing stupid antlers but managed to hold her tongue. Being head girl meant she had to show some respect and though that was equivalent to torture for Lux, it was worth keeping the position. |

| As the classroom filled up (and the majority of students took to joining in with the festive cheer) Jake smiled warmly, responding to each greeting with a 'hello' in return, or a 'you're welcome' in response to a thank you. It was only small things he'd bought, nothing too expensive, but a bit of fun. With the flow of students slowing down, Jake checked his watch and nodded to himself.
Getting up from his desk, Jake moved through the mill of student. "Good morning, everyone. I hope you enjoy the chocolate, if not anything else." Jake told them, amusement playing on his own lips because he doubted anyone would call him out on that much. "Oh, and Miss Bailey, we may look ridiculous, but we're having fun." Jake replied to the Head Girl - he wasn't starting anything, just putting the witch back in her place before anyone else could.
"So, today," Jake continued, tapping the top of the trunk which gave a shake almost on cue. "We have this to deal with. Tell me, does anyone have an inkling as to what I have brought along to class today?" Jake posed the question, seeing who knew anything about Boggarts. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| Jacques could not help but smirk to himself as the Head Girl was put down quite some by the teacher for trying to berate those who had decided to put the hats on. Served her right, really, if she was going to try and act smart in front of authoritative figures. But it wasn't a complete bashing, much to Jacques dismay, like that which would probably have been handed out by Professor Balan.
As Professor Newbury, Jake, started the lesson, Jacques' eyes turned back to the trunk that rattled on cue. Shaking his head slightly at that much, Jacques tuned in just in time to hear the question being posed. Shaking his head in derision that their professor could really ask such an obvious question, Jacques replied.
"It's obviously a Boggart, professor. I'm not sure that question was wholly necessary." Jacques replied to the question, not bothering to look towards their professor as she replied, his eyes simply boring in to the trunk, wondering what might lie beneath. ________________________________________________

| The reply - a lazy reply at that - which came from Jacques was right. Jake wondered if the boy had read ahead, or had past dealings with the beast trapped inside the box, but decided not to ask. Instead, Jake focused on the answer. "Correct, Jacques, have five points for Slytherin." Jake acknowledged the answer before continuing on once more.
"So, the Boggart is an unusual creature - no one knows what form a Boggart takes when you can't see it. Why, might you ask, then, do we have it today? A Boggart is a dark creature, a shape shifter, which takes the form of your greatest fears." Jake explained, allowing a small pause. "Yes, I know, great, just what you wanted. But, today is actually fun. Upon seeing your Boggart take shape, you're going to picture it turning in to something amusing, and, using the spell, Riddikulus, we are going to repel the creature with laughter.
"Now, who would like to try to take on the creature first?" Jake prompted, looking around for a volunteer. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~
