Defence Against the Dark Arts - Lesson Three (All Years) - Page 2 Empty

Tired, and upset, Chara had lost herself to the world, instead going through the letter she had received the previous night. Gary, her almost 8 brother had still not shown any magical properties and her parents had written to tell Chara that over the holidays, the older witch was tasked with the job of making sure that Gary, well, did. A Squib was not something the Fletchers needed, and if that was what their only son was, then they would no longer have one.

We would also like you to be the first in our family to know that your mother is pregnant with another child, one part of the letter had read, which made Chara even more upset. Despite the huge age gap, she truly did love her brother.

A hand on her back startled her out of her thoughts, and she blinked once, trying to digest the words being spoken to her. It took a few seconds to settle in, but the moment they did, her eyes widened slightly. "I apologize. I forgot myself for a moment," she replied at once, also in a soft tone. Moving away from the wall, she felt a slight blush come to her cheeks at being caught doing something so unladylike.

A few moments later, she controlled her embarrassment control a little and she smiled at the boy. "Hello, Alexander. How are you this morning?"

As people began to filter in, Jake noted those who entered, acknowledging their hellos with warm smiles and soft hellos in response. He knew most of them, and his register added to the rest. When it seemed like everyone had arrived that would be attending the lesson, Jake cleared his throat.

"Good morning everyone, welcome back to Defence Against the Dark Arts. It seems like everyone is here, but if there are some stragglers, then it doesn't matter. Today, we will be doing some team work and setting challenges for each of you. There will be three tasks to complete, and I will be grading you on your progress. Now, don't worry if you can't do things, the grade will be based on how well you work as a team, not how strong or weak your magic is.

There will be clues for you each to solve, and then you must deal with the things before you as you have learnt throughout the years. Please go careful. Now, Victoria you will accompany Phillip and Corienna. Paulina, you will go with Rhys and Finley. And Alexander, Chara and Naomi will make up the third group. This isn't a race, so just do your best as a team."
