| Mackenzie had enjoyed her first few months teaching at Hogwarts. As a journalist, she had always had the ability to shape the workings of someone's mind to believe in what she was telling them. Her voice had been persuasive and invasive; a tool to sell more copies and cause drama. At the school, her intentions radiated with purity. Every word she spoke would resonate with her students and it was her job to make sure that her words would be beneficial.
In particular, there was one student that she hoped for her words to reach. Upon her first lesson, Mackenzie had met a young man by the name of Max. She'd never seen someone so genuinely interested in something as Max was towards her class. He cared about animals, it seemed. She hoped that he would maintain that passion. She hated to watch passion fade.
As the last lesson of the year approached, Mackenzie decided that she would teach a lesson on one of her personal favourite creatures. She'd originally come into an issue with her lesson plan, as this specific creature required a license to possess. She had applied for this license, but this did lead to her only being able to bring on of the creatures into the lesson. This said, she had found another way around her problem.
Mackenzie was sat in the grass, something resembling a cat curled up in her lap. Beside her was a small pen of what appeared to be cats; moreso than the one she held. This would be both a cute and an informative lesson. |

| It was Carlotta's final classes, and she just had to feel all gooey and sentimental. She'd decided to take one of her favourite classes from when she was much younger, Care of Magical Creatures. She made her way over to where the usual lesson was held, surprised to find that she was the first to arrive. Professor Faucette had been sat on the grass, with some creature in her lap.
"Professor Faucette," she greeted with a grin "Is that what we're studying today?" she asked, before she saw the pen beside her of what appeared to be cats. They couldn't possibly be cats, there'd be some sort of twist. A cross breed perhaps? Or something different entirely, with just the same appearance. A product of convergent evolution perhaps? Where two very different species evolve to have the same features due to similar environments. She was eager to see what they were. |

| Care of Magical Creatures was not a class that Mathew particularly excelled in. What with the necessity for compassion with the beasts, and gentle hands, the Hufflepuff was not at all suited to that much. However, the Hufflepuff had made the walk down to the class, simply to get out of the castle.
He was researching, on his own back, the availability of disposable Gryffindors. He needed but one, but thus far he'd not found one that could go missing without a lot of people paying attention.
Finding the class, Mathew was disappointed to find only blue ties. Half of him wanted to turn on his heel, and head back to the castle. But, he was persistent, so he stood off from the rest of the class.
As Mathew's eyes landed on today's lesson, his jaw set. Cats? The only use of a cat was skinning them. Looking vaguely disgusted with this, Mathew's attention went back towards the castle, looking to see who else would be arriving. |

| Max had, of course, run all the way down to Care of Magical Creatures without a second thought. If Prim was coming to this lesson, Max hadn't checked, but would likely hear all about it later when the witch caught up with him. It wasn't exactly his fault that the animals were so exciting to him. And now that he'd adopted his own Knarl, he wanted to talk to the professor -- though, whether the professor would tell him off, Max wasn't sure.
Coming in to the clearing, Max all but skidded to a stop in front of the professor, grinning widely at her. That was before Max noticed the Kneazle sat in the professor's lap, and he unceremoniously plopped himself down on his backside before the professor and looked at the cat-like creature with wonderment.
"Does he, or she, have a name, professor?" Max asked excitedly, barely containing himself from reaching out to pet the Kneazle. It wouldn't do to get too ahead of himself, after all, but the energy from Max was radiating off of him, showing he wanted to get on with this lesson.
Quickly. |

| Jasmine made her way lazily down the grounds towards Care of Magical Creatures class. It wasn't exactly her favorite although, it was a class she seemed to do well in. Since it didn't involve magic, she was able to catch on quickly. She strolled into the class area and noticed a few other that had already showed up. She saw the boy sitting way to close for comfort to the professor and rolled her eyes. She quickly noticed it was the boy she'd run into in the common room that was hiding out some kind of creature he plucked from the forest.
She walked away from him, past everyone without saying hello, and stood with her arms folded across her chest. She liked to stand in the back so she could watch everyone. She liked to see their attitudes and personalities bubble to the surface when they thought no one was looking. She didn't speak to anyone naturally....she didn't consider anyone here a "friend", yet. Besides, she was only a first year and most of these kids were much older than she was.
Finally, Jasmine's eyes settled on the pen of cats....Cats? What on earth? Her brows furrowed as she attempted figure out what was going on here exactly. If they were, indeed, studying cats perhaps she would have a bit of an advantage. |

| James had his heart set on summer. He'd been keen for the warmer weather as he really despised the cold and the snow. Though with the growing threat of the Nightshades, he didn't think he'd have much freedom to do as he wanted, like he usually could. He could begin to see why Florrie got so frustrated with being accompanied by a staff member everywhere.
Care of Magical Creatures was one of the classes he definitely liked more. It came much easier to him than other classes. He made his way down to the place where the class was held, taking in the warmer weather, the feeling of sun on his face. It was days like these that would be perfect for a quidditch match, or a day at the beach, or in James' case, an outside class. "Hi there Professor," he greeted with a grin as he took in the mysterious creatures (that looked to be cats) in the pen beside her, gathering that they would be the topic of the lesson. |

| Florrie had been looking at expanding her magical knowledge considerably. So, she took a class that she usually wouldn't consider. Care of Magical Creatures. It was a nice day, warmer than she thought it'd be. Though it was coming into summer, she supposed. It was nice feeling the sun on her face, the slight breeze, and not being cooped up in an old classroom.
She made her way down to the place where it was held, seeing quite a few other students, including her brother, had arrived before her. Her eyes wandered to the pen beside the professor, and the creature that was in her lap. Were they cats? She felt a little disappointed, cats were nothing special really. She'd been hoping for something exciting. Maybe they were a crossbreed? Or just looked like them but were actually entirely different.
"Professor Faucette," she smiled politely, before she caught onto a thought. It was the thought of an older Hufflepuff boy that was stood off to the back. It was quick, something about skinning cats. And it was gone in a flash, she'd been shut out. She glanced back at him, only for a moment and tried again, curiosity probably getting the better of her. But it was lost, and she hadn't the skill to get past someone who seemed to be blocking her out. |

| Julienne had never minded Care of Magical Creatures class much. She enjoyed seeing the animals, even if she'd never have to nerve to walk up and greet one. She liked hearing their stories, almost as if this class were more of a living biography of each creature. Plus, the class was outside. Julienne had always felt more comfortable in the outdoors than inside of a building. There was a certain freedom in the fresh air of a field that she could not experience inside of a school or a house. Nature was comfortable. And she enjoyed comfortable.
As she made her way to the class's meeting place, Julienne noticed a pen of cats. Odd, no? Would they be learning about cats? Or was there something special about this certain breed of cat. She remembered reading something about animals with special powers, but she couldn't remember coming across cats. She took her place at the back of the group, and she waited. |

| Care of Magical Creatures was not one of Koda's favourite classes, but she did find some joy in attending. If anything, classes provided the girl with an opportunity to people watch; to find out what her fellow classmates were thinking. She often found that those around her had one of a few thought patterns; bland, dark, or far too happy for her liking.
This class showed no signs of anything different. At first look, she heard a few different things. One thought, something about skinning cats, caught her off guard. The thought had no elaboration, as the owner of said thought appeared to have the ability to keep her away from his mind.
She hadn't known any of the students at Hogwarts to have thoughts as peculiar as this. It intrigued her. The boy, Matthew seemed as though he'd be interesting to speak to at some point in the future. Though she knew to be careful. He may be dangerous.
Somewhat like Matthew, the other students all seemed to be thinking about cats. She wondered why. They were obviously studying Kneazles today, not cats.
"Idiots," she muttered, waiting for the lesson to begin. |

| Mackenzie smiled as students began to gather around her. As she'd suspected, the professor noticed quite a few confused faces. More than likely, the children were wondering why the professor had decided to bring cats to a Care of Magical Creatures lesson.
One of the first students to arrive, Carlotta De Santis, vocalised this concern, asking Mackenzie if the animals in the pen were the creatures that they were studying. She was inclined to say something sarcastic, though she figured that it would come off as rude seeing as it made sense for the student to be confused.
Instead, she nodded. "Yes," she responded. "Interesting, are they not?"
A few more students joined in, either greeting the professor or silently walking to a place in the back of the crowd. She'd grown used to the silence of some students, either coming from shyness or annoyance. She understood, of course, that some children did not want to speak or be seen in front of a group of their peers. So she did not push them to.
As if it were his one purpose to break the silence and confusion of the current group of students, Maximillian Hollingberry, all but crash landed into the creature that Mackenzie held in her lap. His excitement was radiant and genuine, making the professor smile.
"His name is Arlington," she responded. There was no particular reason for the name, except for the fact that she liked the sound of it. "Tony for short."
"Would you like to hold him?" She asked, assuming that someone as excited about animals as Max would jump at the opportunity. "Unless you are hiding from a life of crime, he should be a perfect gentleman."
"Good afternoon," She greeted the rest of the class. "As some of you may have noticed, the pen of creatures behind me will be the topic of today's lesson." She nodded her head towards the group of animals nearby.
"While today's lesson is on Kneazles, I was only able to procure on of the creatures. That being the one I am currently holding. The animals in the pen are half-kneazles. Still highly intelligent, but not quite as much so as a full Kneazle.
"The idea of today's lesson will be to shed some light on Kneazles. If you give me a fact about Kneazles, I will allow you to hold one of the half-Kneazles if you'd like." |
