CoMC Lesson Two: All Years Empty
PostSubject: CoMC Lesson Two: All Years   CoMC Lesson Two: All Years EmptyThu Oct 12, 2017 3:20 am

Mackenzie took in a deep breath as she heard her students' quiet and not-so-quiet chatter approaching. She had never broken a lesson up into more than one part before and it worried her that the children may have already lost interest in the subject, but she had seen no way to get all of the information across in only one lesson. She'd spent a majority of the last lesson speaking about the history that had been made by the creatures of the Black Lake. This time, she hoped to introduce her students to the beasts who made said history.

She had spoken to a Selkie a few days earlier; they had been either the leader or a representative of sorts, though she was not quite sure. They had indicated no issue with her lesson plan, but Mackenzie still knew to be careful. She wanted to make sure that she was not overstepping her bounds.

She stood still and smiled at the students who had come to this lesson. She hoped that they would enjoy it as much as she was going to.

Today was actually a good day and Tess for some weird reason had no clue what to do about it. For one thing, she woke up right with her alarm signaling her that her day was to begin and she was perfectly fine. Usually she would groan and lay in bed for a few minutes hoping life would fade away and she would keep sleeping. But this morning she happily slipped into the showers to properly get ready for her day. Next came breakfast. They had soft cinnamon rolls which were her weakness and she allowed herself to have one. It was such a nice day and no one bothered her, it was just her and her book until she noticed it was time for class. It was on her trek that she found herself humming on her way to class and froze if only for a second.

Why was life being that good to her? This was unnatural. Still, she figured if life was going to throw something at her, there was no need to be paranoid. So she continued on to the Black Lake excited to see what her professor would teach. As she saw the woman, Tess smiled realizing this was her first female professor since starting.

"Hello Professor" she greeted softly as she found herself standing near the front in hopes of getting a good view as to what they would learn. She briefly wondered if it would be about the squid, but she waited patiently, excited for what was to come.

Care of Magical Creatures was one of the classes what Sasha liked at times but not always. It all depends on what they did study there. She just isn't so much interested in animals really but she decided to show up there this time. Just to see what they will learn there today maybe it will be interesting.

The girl walked where the lesson was held today and same time wondered what they will learn there. Soon she reached to near of The Black Lake. She didn't walk very close to the professor for now. She decided to stay bit further. So she doesn't have to speak up there much. She barely knew anything about animals and creatures you learn in this lesson.

So Sasha was here to listen only. She didn't plan to speak much unless it was really needed which barely happened to her. She just was observing things from further.

Heading back to the Black Lake, Max was in his usual excited manner as he moved down to the meeting place for the class. He was, truthfully, hoping they might get to go down to see the mermaids today. Or, in the very least the professor would have managed to bargain with the mermaids to come up from the murky depths of the lake to meet with them. This would be, in truth, one of the best days of school if the professor made that happen.

As Max approached -- sans Prim, because Max always forgot to wait when it came to Care of Magical Creatures -- he could see he was not the first to arrive and felt more than a little bit put out at that much.

Though, the Gryffindor Prefect was not put off. "Morning professor!" Max greeted the witch responsible for the class, before sending a smile to the Slytherin and Hufflepuff witch already there. Max was, most certainly, not one for the house rivalry that sometimes existed within the school, but he didn't know either of the girls very well. Though, of course, that came with being more interested in creatures than people, truthfully.

Care of Magical Creatures. One of Janet's favorite classes. She hadn't been able to make it to the last lesson due to a mix-up in her schedule but was determined to make up for it in this class. Having borrowed notes form a friend Janet knew what the last class had been about, making her all the more excited to see what the professor had in store for today.

So, with her stuffed full shoulder bag across her shoulder, Janet made the walk down to the Black Lake by herself. She positioned herself in the front of the class with a bright smile, taking out a quill and parchment before giving the professor a wave and an excited "Good morning professor Faucette". She glaced around at her classmates then, interested to see who shared one of her best classes. She recognized the slytherin girl from her house, Tess she believed, but had never spoken to her before. As for the other two this was Janet's first time seeing them. This was certainly a big school.

Sophie jogged towards the Black Lake, hoping that she wasn't late. She'd gotten permission to set up a small jumping course in one section of the grounds that was unused. It had taken some time to put everything up, measuring the distance between the jumps, counting out the paces, and calculating the angles. But she'd worked on it every chance she got and finally had it all ready. She'd try it out during her lunch break after Care of Magical Creatures.

The previous class had been more theoretical, and though Sophie didn't mind it - she knew the importance of theory - she hoped that they would be doing something a little more practical this round. It was interesting and all to learn history and such, but it was far more memorable if they did something with their hands. Regardless, even if it were to be another theoretical lesson, Sophie would learn something.

She reached the small clustered group and gave the Professor a smile. "Hi, Professor Faucette," she greeted, making her way to the front of the group.

Elleon took a leisurely walk to the Back Lake, enjoying the wintry weather. He'd spent the Christmas holidays back home with his family. His old school had put on a comedic Christmas play and he had the time of his life catching up with the friends he'd made before coming to Hogwarts. He loved studying about the wizarding world, he really did, but nothing could match being in a community of people he could communicate freely with. His brain wasn't constantly on overdrive, trying to figure out what people said.

The holiday had given him a much needed break and had refreshed him somewhat to continue the rest of the term. He'd gotten the encouragement he needed to survive until the summer holidays. It had also presented him with the opportunity to ask Amber to be his girlfriend. It wasn't as elaborate as he'd seen in some proposal videos, but it was intimate and sweet. Before she transferred to Hogwarts, he'd been the only deafie in the school. but they'd formed a friendship almost immediately, and that grew into some more, something deeper.

With a small smile on his face as he recalled the moment, he gave Professor Faucette a wave in greeting and stood in a place where he had a clear view of her lips.

Last week's Care of Magical Creatures lesson had been rather interesting. The class had covered a topic more relevant to a history class than a creature-care class; they had discussed the magical eggs used at the Triwizard Tournament. It was a bold move, he was sure. The boy had never known any teacher to stray from their subject of academia.

But the lesson had definitely been interesting. And now they were back at the Black Lake, no doubt for a lesson that coincided with their last one. Perhaps this one would be more relevant to animals, but no-one could be sure.

As he approached the lesson, Avalon did not see any creatures, eggs, or anything else accompanying the professor. He found this odd because Professor Faucette usually had some sort of a prop with her for lessons. What could they be learning today?

"Morning, Professor," he smiled warmly, finding himself a place amongst the group of students that had already gathered to hear what the woman had to say.
