| The sun shining bright in the sky above head did nothing to ease the chill of the early winter morning. It wasn't anything like he was used to experiencing back home, though the last few year in Ireland had been doing well to condition him for this. Though he was still very much so huddled up under his winter coat. He wondered what the Ministry policy was on collecting research data from students, but as far as he was concerned he was killing two birds with one stone. For a brief moment the red head chuckled at his own lame joke considering the subject matter at hand today.
He wondered how the students would respond to him, he was a new relatively young teacher and on the first day of lessons he was giving them a year long project. He hoped that they would find the fun in it and learn from what he was offering. As he waited for the students to begin arriving he began setting up each of their stations with an empty journal and a large egg. Taking a deep breath to steel his nerves Gavin prepared to greet his students. |

| He was making his way back to class from a gruelling study session back in the library when he had found himself side tracked. For as overused as the library was, it really was one of the best places in the castle to get things done. Time seemed to go by slower in there, and before Kellin knew it, he’d read over four chapters on Magical Creatures and was almost ready to advance past the part he’d been asked to read. The book itself wasn’t as interesting as it may have seemed when he sat with his leg crossed beneath the other, but something about the library itself made him feel more productive. It was a place of quiet, a place of knowledge – a place for smart people. He vowed to spend more of his time here now that he had more free periods and time on his hands thanks to the holidays. The only hard bit was getting here in the first place.
After about an hour and a half, maybe two hours, his eyes had grown bored of the small print text. The time in the library was up for him, he could only fight the boredom so long before he would end up reading pages without actually reading them. He wasn’t too happy to be heading back thanks to the snow, but as it stood, he had gotten a lot (in his own terms) done – that was enough for now, and he needed the break. He packed up his books quickly, not forgetting to slip one of the thicker text books back onto the shelf in its rightful spot before leaving.
Kellin knew it was about time to head to the grounds for Care of Magical Creatures, so he took his messenger bag and started to walk in the direction of where class was usually held. He could see a man in the distance, and he knew that figure was the CoMC teacher. The Ravenclaw started to walk faster, and soon he reached the Professor, and the materials that were going to be used this lesson. "Good morning." he said as he went over to a station. |

| Gabriel slid along one of the stones going down to the Care of Creatures normal spot, he found the class largely entertaining; likely because it was one of the few classes they got to talk about dragons. He very much hated the weather right now, it was to cold for his tastes and even under three layers he still felt cold; damn winter.
He found out quickly enough that he was one of the first to show up, which he absolutely loathed doing. He would rather be late than early, it was less boring that way. He looked up at their Professor with a grin "Yo Teach, what we got here?" He asked simply, looking over the Egg with curiosity; he wondered what could be inside.
If it was some lame chicken, then the class would have killed his mood. But if it was some cool Fire breathing Illegal reptile that could fly, then he'd been entertained for months. |

| The first two students arrived and Gavin gave them a warm and welcoming smile. He felt a bit more relaxed then he did with either the older our the younger years. These students were in a nice middle zone, they weren't close enough to Gavin's age that he felt he'd need to prove himself, but they weren't young enough that he felt the need to put on a professional air. He felt the most relaxed and Gavin-ish at this moment then he had since agreeing to pick up this gig. "Good morning gentleman. I'm Professor Pierce thank you guy for making it out here on this frigid morning." Despite having lived in Ireland the last few years, and gone to school in America most of his life anyone that really listened to Gavin speak could hear the traces of his Canadian accent.
Upon being questioned on the eggs at their work stations Gavin simply smiled a little bit. "What you've got mister..." Gavin paused realizing he didn't know the students names. He quickly reached into his coat and pulled out a class roster and looked it over. "McKay? Is a chance to help the ecosystem restore natural balance. As well as being a member of an elite number of wizards to raise the dangerous creatures that these eggs contain."
Grabbing his copy of the text book and flipping it idily he grinned wondering if he'd stirred the boy's interests. "What can you boys tell me about griffons?" |

| Kellin simply watched as another student arrived. Maybe class was going to be the two of them, and since the Ravenclaw needed to be more friendly and less introverted, he was considering talking to the boy. The thought was easily scratched as Kellin knew that he was going to mess up the conversation in a way, so he kept silent, putting his hands in his coat pocket in an attempt to keep warm. The cold air moved the teenager's blonde hair into his face, and that was the last place he ever wanted it to be. His mind was attempting to tell him that he wouldn't be here for long.
The Ravenclaw knew that was probably a lie.
Even though he lived in England for most of his life, he still wasn't used to the cold weather. The teenager wasn't going to get used to it, the snow was too wet and the ice was too slippery. Cold weather was equivalent to a danger zone, in Kellin's opinion, and a few others probably agreed with him. But, the beautiful Christmas decorations were extremely irresistible, so he decided to take some time out of his day to go and see them, and finally be nonchalant about the weather.
"What can you boys tell me about griffons?"
Obviously, even the cold weather couldn't stop the studious boy. He raised his hand, and began to answer the question. "Well, the Griffin originated in Greece. It has the front legs, wings and head of a giant eagle, and the body, hind legs, and tail of a lion. The main diet of the Griffin is raw meat."
