They had taken a week off work before returning to the chaos of the political system they now found themselves in. Jackson and Victoria's first priority had been damage control, the lawyer siting in with their two accountants and figuring out how to make the little bit that they had last. From Jackson's calculations, they had enough to last them through November but that was it. Victoria had been a star and said she could have it stretch to December just to cover the operating expenses. The staff's Christmas bonus though, would have to wait.

Jackson had done his part by going on the record and saying how shocked and horrified he was a the violent attack on his dear friend and sponsor, and how he had nothing but good wishes for Wyatt Jameson and his new wife who was now photographed almost every day visiting the posh private hospital where her husband lay in a coma. He'd had flowers sent to the Mrs. Jameson, he'd had a card send on an officially capacity but Jackson had not worked up the courage to call the unknown under on his phone back. Not yet.

Though if the Christmas bonuses didn't come through, he may not have a choice.

But at least some good was happening on the personal front. Sasha had announced first week into December how she wished to go back to the UK for the Holidays and would he come with her. The request had been a surprise to the man as he knew she wasn't overly fond of her parents. But she had been reconnecting with her sister so maybe that's what the redhead's plans involved.

At any rate, he couldn't go with her, as he patiently explaind for the hundredth time, because he spent Christmas with his mother. Sasha had been put out enough at first but then had tried other means of making him come, repeatedly, and failed. Though her attempts were enjoyable at the very least. After a hard day at the office, it was at least different to come home to a woman in lingerie willing to do anything for him. But the guilt that came after was getting steadily harder to deal with. It was as though soemthing had snapped in him with Victoria knowing, he was now forced to view his actions through her eyes and he found himself... not at all to his liking.

So to assuage his guilt, the man took his fiance shopping on Thursday, buying her things he could not afford and reciprocating the sexual favors the night before her flight. He even dropped her off at the airport but that was more for the photo op. Sasha had many glaring flaws but appearing picture perfect next to him was not one of them.

Not wanting to be alone with his thoughts over the weekend, Jackson had promptly driven back to his old apartment from the air port, surprising Victoria with pizza and spending the evening helping her "pack". Much like Sasha, a lot of his staff had started taking off by Friday to get an early start on Christmas prep next week but the Goblin was of course staying until Wednesday afternoon, probably double and triple checking everything before she locked the office and made the mad dash to her own flight back to London.

Jackson too was heading to Green Lake on Wednesday but his first flight was booked for Monday, to Washington D.C. When Victoria had asked why he needed a forty hour layover at the capital, Jackson had cited meetings to discus potential new donors and the Princess had left it at that. Either she understood this to be necessary or knew he was lying and didn't wish to embarrass him further. In truth, Jackson had made plans to meet Tessa in their little apartment for the short time they would both be in DC, and he needed to see her something fierce.

The politician had left straight from Victoria's on Monday morning, dropping her off to the office on his way to work. He'd hugged the Goblin close and told her to stay safe, reminding her to hit the newly installed panic buttons in every room of the office if she felt something was up. The system would not only alert the nearest police posts but also send a signal to his cell where an app would show him her exact coordinates to apperate to. If it was the last thing he did, Jackson would make damn sure his princess was never in danger without him by her side ever again.

Landing on the DC airport was no joke, trying to make his way through the crowd of people flying to and from places in time to go back home. Luckily his lack of luggage and a few magical tricks cleared his path enough to have him in a cab within half an hour.

Now that he was so close to seeing Tessa again, his body was on high alert. Having been denied what was rightfully his for too long, the man remained wired as he climbed out the cab, tossing the driver a twenty and not stopping to collect the change.

Letting himself into the apartment, Jackson called out "T, you here yet?" Should no reply come, his next step would be to remove his coat and loosen his tie, then pick up his phone and text the witch in question.

Finally, Tessa was going to get to see Jackson. And she hoped that nothing would happen this time. Like the last time, they got to meet it didn't go so well. Now it was just going to be nice to spend alone time with Jackson. Soon Dominique would be home from school. And she would be focused on her. But for now, this was going to be all about Jackson. This was something that she was looking forward to. She had decided to come early. As she was hoping that she was able to surprise Jackson. She knew that he could use it as she could tell that things weren't going good.

She then heard the door open to the apartment. Which she knew who it was. That is when she had started at the front door. And she was grinning at the person that was standing right in front of her. " I am glad to see that you made it."

Fortunately, Tessa didn't take long to reply, stepping into the living from just as he called out and making a grin of pure joy spread across his face. How he'd missed her these last few months.

" I am glad to see that you made it."

Jackson was walking towards her already, not giving her a chance to say more before he pulled her close and brought his face down to hers, crushing her lips to his as his hands circled her waist. There would be time for conversation later. Right now, there was only one thing the wizard needed and currently, only Tessa Greene was in possession of it. It took only minimal effort to lift the young woman off her feet and haul her over his shoulder, striding them both towards the nearest bedroom.

The giggles from her lips between kisses rang like music to his hears as he tossed ehr on the bed, following shortly after.

The sun was sinking outside the large glass walls of the apartment by the time both Jackson and Tessa were finally awake. Their initial reunion had resulted in hours of Jackson's favorite kind of workout followed by a much needed nap. They both difficult jobs and had family obligations, so falling asleep in each other' arms was a luxury the man could well appreciate now, blissfully sated in the afterglow of intense sex.

"Hmm," he mumbled as Tessa stirred beside him, loosening his hold slightly on the witch in case he wanted to get up. "I don't want to get out of bed yet," he added, burying his face into her bare shoulder, his nose rubbing against the pale column of her throat.

Yeah, this as about as good as it got.

All Tessa need was to be in Jackson's arms. And she knew that they were going to make up from the time of the wedding. And that was what they did as they both took a nap afterward. And Tessa loved being in Jackson's arm. As she wished that she could be in his arms a lot more. But both of them were busy with work. And Jackson was still engaged. So she was going to enjoy this time will they both still had it. Neither one of them wanted to get out of bed. Because they both wanted this moment to last.

Tessa smiled as she was looking at Jackson. “ I don’t want to get out of bed either. I just want to stay here for a while.” She knew that it was all going to be over. As they both had lives they had to get back to. And she would have to go back to Dominique. But for now, Jackson was the only person that mattered to her.

The man smiled into her skin, glad to know they were on the same page. Jackson would give a lot for this to be a daily endurance, and if his princess was to be believed, someday it would be. Some day, but not now. For now, they would simply have to do with the small moments stolen from their hectic lives, a secret kept between the two of them made all the more sweeter.

They stayed in bed for over an hour, sometimes talking, mostly kissing, both too lazy to worry about dinner or clothes or anything else in the world. Tessa caught him up to her news, the new dales Fox was signing which would make the company ten times more profitable and he told her of his own campaign, of Wyatt Jameson's continued coma an his wife's continued media hog over the tragedy.

"I don't want that bastard to ever wake up," he confessed, wrapping his arms tightly around Tessa and cuddling her close. "Though that means we'll have to start looking for donors and sponsors," he added in a worried tone. "The staff has not gotten their Christmas bonus yet and if I don't find a way to get that money... Well, I guess I'll have to remortgage the house. they're a terrific team and they don't deserve to go unpaid over Christmas."

As he spoke, his voice grew grave, distracting him momentarily. Finding a new sleazy donor would be difficult, and put his people at risk once again. Perhaps it was time to approach Kit Harrington once more? The price of clean money was a darkening of the soul it seemed.

"You wouldn't happen to know anyone who can spare millions of dollars at the drop of a hat, do you babe?"

Tessa was just enjoying this time with Jackson. As it was something that didn’t happen a lot. So when they both had the chance they would both soak up the minutes. This was something that Tessa wished that she could have all the time. But she knew that he was marrying Sasha. For now, this was something that they would keep a secret. Tessa was lying in bed with Jackson just talking. Mostly they were kissing but she was telling him about the deals that Fox was signing. This was going to make them more profitable. But she then to Jackson as he was talking about his campaign. And he then mentions about Wyatt Jameson. It seemed that he in a coma.

She had remembered everything that had happened that night. “I know you don’t want him to ever wake up,” Tessa remembered what the man did to Victoria. She knew that she had felt that same thing as Jackson. As she knew that Dominique was also close to her. Dominique would always talk about her when writing. She then listened as Jackson was saying that hey needed to find more money. Which meant that they would need to find more donors. Jackson then asked if she knew anybody who could spare millions of dollars.

“ You know that the Greys and Fox Network will always support you.”

Tessa always listened, a refreshing change from his own fiance who seem to never have time to actually pay attention to his career. Not only did Tessa listen, but she also offered to help.

“ You know that the Greys and Fox Network will always support you.”

"D-do you really mean it," he asked, taken aback by what the Fox executive was proposing. He respected Tessa too much to assume she wasn't aware of the financial implications of her promise, but that could only mean... Slowly, a huge grin grew on his face, his dark eyes shining at what she had said.

"You really are magic," he admitted, leaning down to kiss her deeply before pulling away. "You literally just solved all my problems with a single sentence." And she had. Jackson knew enough about Fox to know that the money he needed to fund his own operations was chump change to the organization in question. What was more, no one would suspect ill of Fox supporting a republican candidate.

Tessa was a tactical genius.

"Let's commemorate this," the wizard suggested, eyebrows wriggling suggestively as he reached for his phone. The camera app was launched without hesitation as he went for a second kiss, capturing the moment on his phone.

Many more pictures followed, most of which would be deleted in a day or two but a few that Jackson would keep. Those pictures would keep him going in the long months to the wedding.

Those pictures and the promise from Victoria that all would be okay.
