Jacques let out a soft laugh at the reply. He wasn't sure she understood what he'd meant, but it wouldn't matter anyway. Shifting his weight beside the witch, Jacques would draw her lips back to his own, a lingering kiss.

Silence would prevail though, the man's arms moving around her waist to draw Azalea close to his chest.

"Can you stay a day. Two?" Jacques asked, always a request and never an insistence on her. The unspoken notion that he needed respite from the world, here in Lyon, until he could return to the world and the charade of life.

As with anything that wasn't to be, Azalea's gentle decline to stay past the morning shouldn't have been as stinging as it was. Yet here they were, the pain in his chest quite real despite no physical blow being dealt.

"Of course." The Frenchman replied gently, tone understanding even if sad. "The Headmistress can't be missing from these events."

It was the agreement that said she didn't have to apologise for her life.

Azalea's life was not his to intrude upon just because his own wasn't going the way it should.

Jacques Clement didn't know how to insist, either.

Perhaps it was why he never insisted, knowing better than to blur the line in the sand even further. All the checks they had put in place were of their own making.

Easy to undo if either of them slipped - even if for a moment.

"But I'm here tonight," she whispered, dangerously close to slipping.

Hoping he would catch her if she fell.

Hoping he would fall with her.

Those words, though, lit anew the fire within him. The understanding would be quite clear on the younger man's features as his lips moved to claim hers once more.

"Tonight is more than I deserve." Jacques whispered, sealing the sentiment with another kiss as his body moved over hers.

His body might not be ready, but it wouldn't be long.

Until then, he could lose himself in her.

Her pleasure.

Her gaze.

Whatever she would give freely to him, Jacques would take it as the refuge he greedily craved.

The safety that only she could offer.

"Tonight, I am yours."

Her lips moved, only for his to cover them once more.

And then travel lower.

The smooth silk of her dress parted, revealing a skin that belied age and time. But his lips carved their way downwards. Leaving little signs of humanity.

And she knew, it was she who was his.

How could she not be?

No words to the contrary came, and for that Jacques was grateful. His lips instead carving their way down her body, languid this time with the understanding that they had tonight.

As his lips moved down, his hands moved to press the dress up across her slender frame, giving him more to devour, to cherish, and to reassert as his own for the hundredth time and more.

To remind himself that none of this changed.

Unlike his own body...

Jacques pushed that notion away though, concentration instead turning to the witch's thighs, and the kisses peppering the skin on display.

Jacques lips had nuzzled at her thigh, watching the gentle hitch of Azalea's breath as he came close and only pressed the lightest of kisses at the top of her thigh.

Only for those lips to move to the other side to build the anticipation further.

The Lord would situate himself comfortably between her thighs, arms wrapped around her hips before he dipped his head between the thighs.

Running his tongue slowly between them, his eyes on hers.

His own taste met his lips first, but Jacques didn't hesitate for a moment.

Slowly rolling his tongue back between her legs.
