| The moment the professor started class, Finley was listening attentively. He was a geek, yes, many had tried to bully it from him over the years, but when he'd asked what was wrong with being a geek, the bullies never seemed to have an answer to that. They'd left him alone for a short time, until they'd gotten bored of other targets they'd selected.
It had started once more last year when he started Hogwarts, but Finley didn't care. In fact, the people he wanted to make happy, the teachers, loved him for being how he was. Though his reports said he needed to speak up last year, but everyone who had seen Finley around knew that that simply wasn't going to happen.
Finley's pen continued to sweep across the page as the professor spoke, noting everything she said, and then continuing in the process when the Head Girl spoke up. Everyone had said Victoria was intelligent, but he'd never realised quite how intelligent she was until he'd heard her answer. He'd smiled to himself when he realised, noting he should probably talk to her some time.
What the witch had said, Finley agreed with, but he'd written down one more fact on his piece of paper that he thought the witch had missed.
They are fiercely protective of what is theirs.
It was a simple statement, and he wouldn't say it out loud, but he was working hard, and that was all that mattered. |

| Crista watched as the students scribbled away with their quills, she waited for a moment for their answers and Victoria, did not disappoint which was standard for the Hufflepuff girl; though she got one point wrong.
The young woman smiled a little, tapping the piece of chalk with her wand and it started to write quietly instead of the grinding it seemed to have. "Very well said Miss. Newbury, though you did get one point-" She was cut off by the door opening, the fifth year Gryffindor stood there for a moment before taking a seat next to the other Gryffindor. Crista held her tongue, the boy wasn't extremely late and he was whispering; if he made it a habit she'd have to fix it.
"Back to what I was saying, you mentioned that Goblins could conduct magic without a wand." She said in a calm voice "This isn't a completely true statement, while the Goblins are masters of Metal and are very intelligent, they can barely preform tasks with Magic." Crista waved her hand at the form on the board, the chalk created a Wizard.
"You see, the Goblins wanted to create wands of their own but they lacked the power that Wizards had. Wizards at a time did not use wands, though the Magical cores could make some magic easier so it started to become common." She explained pacing a little in front of the class "At first the Goblins tried to forge wands like their metals, only for them to either shatter when used or cause Spells to back fire."
"It was then that the Goblins went to the Wizards....this then became what is known as the First War, Contact War or Wand Conflict....It ended with both sides bloodied but the Wizards standing high... and a Code was established, making the code of Wands for Wizards only."
"Most of the Revolts for here that the Goblins caused, could link back to either the Wizards ignoring a part of the treaty, Land Greed or Wand control."
Crista took a breath, placing her arms behind her back "Goblins and Wizards are now what we'd call 'Allies' it is unknown how the Goblins could behave in later years, they could be wielding wands by the next century for all we know." She said lightly "Now any questions?" |

| A very small frown touched Victoria's features as she was told she was wrong. It didn't happen very often, but it meant she was internally correcting the information in her head for a moment to make sure it didn't happen again. She was not perfect by a long shot, and Victoria was highly aware of reality, but she knew she could only strive to be better.
A smile touched her lips at the story to start with, but the notion of witches and wizards alike saying that others couldn't use wands like they did... well, it was wrong, to say the least. Victoria waited for the professor to finish before her hand rose once more.
"Umm, professor, if there was a war so long ago, and we've moved on quite substantially since, why isn't there an equality for magical beings that say they can yield a wand like we do? I mean, it's not fair, is it, to restrict one magical being and not another." Victoria asked, genuinely concerned for the welfare of the goblins. The Head Girl wanted to know that someone was working to put this right, because all she could see was a lot of people making the wrong decisions. ________________________________________________ | |

| Crista smiled lightly at the young woman, running a hand through her hair "Miss. Newbury...I believe the answer can simply say the world isn't fair." She said softly looking at the girl. "Some in our community have issues with Muggleborns, they are human like us and yet because of their blood line; looked down on." Here she paused "If we can't show our own kind, respect and acceptance....how can we show other species?"
Crista leaned on her desk for a moment to let her words sink in before she continued.
"For a long time the Goblins were our enemies, then one by the name of Gringott came to some of the most influential and powerful houses. Gaunt, Black, Longbottom...Ect. These houses helped Gringott build his bank and then supported him with bronze, silver and gold." She waved her wand once more the chalk creating the image of the coins used, Knut, Sickle and Galleon.
"This became the currency we still use to this day, and while we might have had a few...hiccups along the road, the Goblin Nation in Britain is our ally."
"You might ask yourselves if the Goblins were our enemies for so long, then how did we obtain goblin forged armor or weapons? The answer is really quiet disturbing....in battle." She said pointing her index finger to a case near her desk "I have a knife, forged by the Goblins. It is not mine, I am borrowing it for a time."
Crista walked back behind her desk, flipping through some papers she nodded a little "I think that should be all for the day, I would like you to read through Chapter 1 and 3 as you'll find Chapter 2 to be insulting." She leaned on her desk a moment "Feel free to ask me any questions, the rest of the time is yours."
