Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) Empty
PostSubject: Herbology: Lesson One (All Years)   Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) EmptyWed Dec 28, 2016 1:52 pm

Caspar was excited, a new year at Hogwarts was just starting, which meant he was about to meet all of his students. He was somewhat nervous too, how could you not be when meeting so many new people? But he knew what he was doing, he knew what he was talking about, so really he had nothing to worry about.

And yet, that didn't stop the light flutter of butterflies in his stomach as he waited in the greenhouse for his students to arrive.

Professor Jameson had said he would be fine, though, and thus Caspar let out s small, shaky breath as he looked back to the plants which he had chosen to start with today. Mandrakes.

It wasn't an easy first lesson, but Caspar wanted to show his students that he was not going to be a teacher to shy away from the more brutal plants. No, Caspar loved them, and he hoped his students would too. On the desks were a set of earmuffs for each student, so now all that remained was the missing ingredient for a perfect class.

Students.

Eli walked- no- ambled. That was probably more accurate- ambled to class, rather surprised to see that he was the first one there. He'd left breakfast a bit before any of his friends, eager to explore the vast outdoors that Hogwarts had to offer. He quickly lost track of time though, and honestly thought he would have been late. Alas- first student. He was rather impressed and surprised with himself. Admittedly, he didn't really rush when he realised he might have needed to be in class, it was pure luck that he happened to be the first one in.

Walking in to the greenhouse, he saw (oddly) earmuffs on the table.

"Are these in case the person next to us won't stop talking?" he joked to the professor before taking a seat. More than likely, it'd be his neighbours using them,he had a habit of talking far too much.

Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Herbology: Lesson One (All Years)   Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) EmptyMon Jan 02, 2017 9:20 am

Ugh... classes. Ellie was not excited for them one bit. 5th year was supposed to be the hardest because of OWLs. She didn't like putting that much effort into her studies and planned on getting mediocre scores in everything if not failing. She didn't really care what she got really. It wasn't like she wanted to grow up and move into adult-hood. She wanted to continue being a kid. Being a kid was fun. It was exciting, there wasn't anything to worry about except for what was for dinner. And since Hogwarts provided all of her meals, and everything was always really good, She really didn't have to worry about anything.

But, to not piss off her family, Ellie headed to class. She would somewhat try. Showing up was trying right? Why was she sorted into Ravenclaw? She didn't really know. Maybe the sorting hat had taken some drugs before the ceremony and just randomly chose a house for her. That made the most sense. Ellie sighed as she entered the green house. Year 5... Man... did she really only have two years left? It didn't seem real. Here she was year 5, she hadn't had a kiss, didn't really have friends, and didn't care what happened at that moment.

She entered the green house and took a seat. The Professor was already there and one other student. She looked at her robes and sighed. She really needed to not set an example. She wasn't a typical Ravenclaw. She didn't care if she was on time, or the first one in the room. Being second in room was almost as bad as being first. She rolled her eyes as the other person in the room tried making a joke.

Ellie said, "No you idiot, they are for the mandrakes. They can make you pass out if you hear their cry."

Man... She tried not to be a know-it-all, but sometimes it came naturally. She hoped the professor wasn't going to look at her for the answers to everything. She put her head down on the table. Then she figured she was being rude...

She looked up and said, "Hello Professor."

"No you idiot, they are for the mandrakes. They can make you pass out if you hear their cry."

Without missing a beat, Eli turned to the girl who had just entered "Well, clearly you've never been in class with someone who can't just be quiet," he scoffed a bit and grinned "It has just occurred to me that perhaps not passing out is also an advantage of the earmuffs," he added, with a head tilt "Hey, it's kind of a two-in-one thing. Stops idiots from being too bloody annoying, and stops you from passing out from- what were they- their cries? Really? Man that's gotta be a good power to have…" he paused a moment before continuing "Yeah I could deal with that."

He looked up to the professor "How does the fainting thing work?" he asked "Asking for a friend who may want to try it out, you know. For scientific purposes," he grinned.

Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Herbology: Lesson One (All Years)   Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) EmptySun Jan 08, 2017 5:04 pm

One reason why Primrose didn't actually like Herbology was because it was far too cold in the greenhouse and it made her knee ache in pain which, half of the time, led to her not actually paying any attention to the lesson as she tended to, more often than not, focus on her own will not start whimpering in pain.

It had been the reason why she had, finally, gotten some knee pads and protectors from the muggle world that she had a seventh-year charm to be warm the whole time she had it on. It would keep it from stiffening up and locking on her and it would also keep her attention on the lesson.

Being the third one in the classroom actually annoyed Primrose at first until she heard the words that the fifth year Ravenclaw said to the Gryffindor first year. Rolling her eyes upwards, Primrose limped towards one of the tables and slammed her bag on the floor beneath the table.

"Can you not call a first year an idiot, Ms Conners?" The blond-haired fourth year sent the Ravenclaw an annoyed look. "You're not being very mature towards an eleven-year-old. He was just being sarcastic." Really, what type of idiot must the Fifth Year Ravenclaw be to call an eleven year old an idiot?

Turning towards her fellow Gryffindor, Prim replied to his question. "It's the Mandrake's cry. The plants themselves are fairly harmless but when you pull them out to re-pot them they cry very loudly." She tilted her to the side. "A young mandrake's cry will only knock you out but a mature one will instantly kill you. So I'm guessing that we'll be re-potting young Mandrakes." This observation she directed towards the Professor, a simple, beautific smile upon her lips.

Arthur made his way down towards the greenhouses with mild apprehension. A new professor meant that there was a new way of doing things, and for Arthur, that was rather unsettling. He liked to know how things were going to be done, so that he could plan, be comfortable. Of course, new things came along and he had to deal with them as they came, but he preferred not having to do that.

Slipping through the door, Arthur came face to face with some of his peers obviously having something of a debate.

Deciding against getting involved, Arthur moved away from the group and put his bag down in a free space. He didn't know who might be attending today's class (another unsettling idea) but hoped a few people he knew would join them. That way he might have someone to work with - if the professor permitted, of course. Until such a time, all he could do was wait.

Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Herbology: Lesson One (All Years)   Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) EmptyMon Jan 09, 2017 7:45 pm

Secrets at Hogwarts were never kept secret. Which amused Jacques. He managed to stay under the radar for the most part, and the... physical relationship that had sparked up between himself and one of the Gryffindor girls had not caught the lips of anyone. On the flip side, the fact they had a new Herbology professor had spread around the school - well the train ride to the school - like wild fire.

Which was precisely why Jacques was bothering with the class today. Purely to find out if this professor was as much of a joke as the rest of the professors they had on offer at Hogwarts.

Entering the greenhouse, Jacques caught on to the argument that had started between three other students. His fellow Slytherin had slunk off, obviously content on being unnoticed. Jacques was not going to be in the same boat, though, definitely not. "I'd agree with the Ravenclaw." Jacques told the other girl who'd spoken. "Anyone who can't work out the earmuffs are for protection purposes, not for 'talkative neighbours' is most definitely an idiot." The French boy told the girl, moving around the table to sit next to the Ravenclaw he agreed with.

He didn't know who she was, but at least she had her head screwed on properly.

Prim grimaced and silently did agree with the Slytherin, however, the first year was in her house and it would look bad on her if she didn't actually try to someway protect him, even if that meant she would end up looking like an idiot herself in front of the others.

"Still he's a first year." Prim said with a soft frown upon her lips. "She could've told him what they were for without calling him an idiot. It just makes her look like an idiot for picking on an eleven year old." And Prim certainly had bad memories when it came to older students picking on her when she had been a first year.

Rubbing her left knee in irritation as it tingled, she frowned down at it before she gingerly took off the knee pads for just a couple of moments. They itched and she knew she had to get some better ones but they would do for now. "Fuck this shit..." She grumbled; her aching knee irritated her now.

Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Herbology: Lesson One (All Years)   Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) EmptyTue Jan 10, 2017 12:42 am

And all of a sudden her moment was destroyed by some preppy blonde gryffindor. Ellie rolled her eyes. Gryffindors thought they where so supperier than everyone else. She hated them with a passion. That was probably why she didn't give two shits that this kid was 11. And since he was 11, he should know what ear muffs are for anyways. Ellie looked at the Gryffindor with a sour look.

She said, "Exactly. He's eleven. So he should know what the war muffs are for anyways! And if he read ahead like a proper student, he would be even more prepared!"

Not that Ellie read ahead.. but she already knew what mandrakes where. Okay.. she read ahead.. She's a Ravenclaw. What was she supposed to do? Not be prepared for the lesson? She tried not to care, but it was in her blood. As a Ravenclaw it was programmed in her mind to want to do good or at least be prepared and look smart even if she wasn't.

And then the slytherin boy stood up for her. And he was French. Double whammy. Ellie hadn't really seen him around before. She turned to look at him. Girls where supposed to twirl their hair when they flirt right? She started doing that. Flirting was never a thing she did, but in this case it was needed.

She said, "hello, I don't believe we've met. I'm Elowyn Conners. Or Ellie. And you are?"

God she was so awkward.

Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Herbology: Lesson One (All Years)   Herbology: Lesson One (All Years) EmptyTue Jan 10, 2017 2:40 am

Eli was… surprised, to say the least that a couple of other people had jumped in. A Gryffindor girl defending him, and another Slytherin boy siding with the Ravenclaw. He looked around, first at the Gryffindor girl "Cheers for that," he smiled, and then back at the other two, looking mildly bewildered "I feel as though you two aren't really the joking types?" he questioned. He felt like his humour had always been universally recognised as humour… Surely no one would really take him seriously, right? He barely even took himself seriously, he didn't expect anyone else to.

"I mean, really. Earmuffs, I know what they do, clearly…" he placed some over his ears, walking over to where he saw the potted plants "I'm smart, yeah?" he spoke loudly, unable to hear the volume of his voice from the earmuffs "I mean, seriously, would an idiot do this?" he quickly grabbed hold of one of the plants, and was halfway through yanking it out when he was suddenly overcome with a dazed confusion. His grip loosened and he looked around, even more bewildered than before, wondering what had happened.
