Elleon breathed a sigh of relief as Professor Balan accepted his answer. Although each of the houses only received three points when the usual was five points, Elleon didn't really mind. He was just happy that the professor had accepted what he'd written. Sort of. He knew all the ingredients needed to make the Wiggenweld potion, but he also knew that the instructions in his textbook didn't use a majority of the ingredients listed - like the Horklump juice, Chizpurfle fangs, sloth brain mucus, and myriad of other stuff. He'd therefore only written down the ones that the textbook said to use.
Making a mental note to ask the professor about it later, Elleon began on his potion. He started with the salamander blood, adding it until the potion turned red. He stopped immeditately, stirring the potion instead and keeping at it until it turned orange. Then he switched to the salamander blood again, pouring it in until the orange lightened to yellow before going back to stirring.
Once the potion turned from yellow to green, he picked up the salamander blood and added it, stopping when the potion turned turquoise. He put down the salamader blood and left the potion to heat, keeping a careful eye on it. The moment it turned indigo, he began pouring the salamander blood again, waiting for it to turn pink. He was careful not to add too much at a time, a mistake he'd once made.
The potion turned pink and Elleon halted adding the salamander blood, heating the potion until it turned back to its original red. He then put in five lionfish spines, heating the potion until it turned yellow. He added another five lionfish spines followed by flobberworm mucus, watching as the potion turned purple.
He picked up the ladle and stirred the liquid, adding flobberworm mucus after it turned red. He kept up with the mucus until the red turned to orange. The went back to stirring the potion, patiently waiting until it turned yellow. THe next part was the one that threw him off. It said to 'shake'. How was he supposed to do that? The cauldron was a heavy thing and rather bulky. Even if he could lift it, he doubted he would be able to shake it. Perhaps he had to take it out into a phial before shaking it? But he had to shake and adde the floberworm mucus at the same time. How'd that work?
Raising his hand, he waited until Professor Balan noticed him. He wrote out on a piece of paper: How do I shake the potion?
After receiving help, he thanked the professor and continued with the next step, adding the honeywater until it turned turquoise. Next, he heated the potion until it turned pink. Finally, he put in the salamander blood until the liquid turned green.
Done with the potion, he ladled some out into a container, wrote his name, year, and house on it before handing it up. He thanked the professor again and left the classroom.
