| Sophie smiled as Cam introduced herself. "Cam. Got it!" she responded, putting a piece of the offered nachos and guac into her mouth. "Ms. Goshawk really pulled all the stops for this ball," she continued, speaking around the dissolving bits of food. It was poor manners, but how else was she to talk to someone while filling her tummy? At least her mouth wasn't chock full. "I'm just glad it's not Valentine's like the last ball was. Merlin knows I can do without cheesy love and pink coated everything."
Before she could say anything else or offer to introduce Cam to a few of her friends, a frown crossed Cam's face. Sophie was just about to ask if anything was wrong when Cam excused herself saying that she was not quite a talker. After she left, it was Sophie's turn to frown as she replayed what she'd said and done, unsure if she was the reason she'd scared Cam away. She knew she could be a little overwhelming at times. It came from always spending her time with animals more than people.
Thinking a little more, Sophie realised that this was not the first time she'd seen behaviour like that. It appeared quite often with horses that were insecure and unused to human company. She'd know, having dealt with plenty of such horses on Grampa's farm. More often than not, Sophie had the task of introducing the animals to human company, showing them that there was nothing to be frightened about. It was an area she was quite the expert in. She chided herself for scaring Cam away and resolved to be calmer the next time she saw her.
She'd finished up her plate of food and was just about to make her way to greet Mercy - whom she'd seen earlier chatting with a couple other people - when Cam came back. "Oh, that's alright!" Sophie said, at the apology. There was no need at all for Cam to apologise as the fault had been Sophie's, but she accepted it nonetheless.
"What year and house are you in?" Sophie continued. She definitely wasn't a Gryffindor. Sophie would've recognised her if she was. |

| She can’t help but notice that Sophie wasn’t disappointed at Cammie at all. She would thought Sophie would be disappointed in her as she didn’t really chat with her. She needs to socialise around because that’s the only way to survive in Hogwarts. You can’t be alone you have to have someone behind your back to be there for you when needed be. Cammie chuckled as she still looked excited as always. Cammie smiled for real and proudly said “Well if one really needs to know, i’m a Hufflepuff and a fifth year.”
As the silence grew as thick as Cammies grandad’s eyebrow, she started to break the ice around them. “What about you lil kid? I bet you’re a Ravenclaw.”
Cammie went to get some other food other than nachos and guac since they almost ate half of the bowl and Cammie’s pretty sure some students glared at them for eating the almost finished nachos and guac. Well it’s also not their fault that is so good. As Cammie grabbed a plate for both of them, Cammie wanted to just sit down and have a conversation. So, she tried finding a table with two empty seats because we all know how it hurts to stand in heels as Cammie isn’t into wearing heels. “For the love of Hogwarts why did i wear this monstrosity this generation called heels?” she thought out loud. Without Cammie noticing that she said it out loud. The heels are killing her legs it’s like she has already been hexed by someone.
“Come on kid i think i found a table for both of us. Well only if you want to of course.” Cammie nervously smiled at the young Ravenclaw. She didn’t want Sophie to be weirded out by her. “Maybe i will let her in eventually maybe she would know what i feel sometimes” Cammie thought to herself.
As Cammie finally had confidence that she was longing for, she walked to the deserted table hoping her new friend would follow her as well. Maybe this could be the start of their friendship. Maybe attending this ball has made a small but yet huge impact to Cammie.

| Michelle took no notice of the slight against her, she was used to it and truthfully it just didn't bother her, not anymore anyway, as a teenager maybe she would've thrown a tantrum but she had grown out of it and didn't care too much about what people thought of her.
Of course, she knew that Jacques was still the heir, she had met Lord Clement after all, but that didn't mean that in the two months between her meeting with the man and the Ball something hadn't changed. She didn't count on it but no-one could be too careful.
She just smiled slightly, her face a clear picture of nonchalance as she listened to Mimosa; the only reason why she was even there was purely because Mimosa had invited her, she wasn't there to actually make friends, much less with the Clement Heir. Not that she had anything against him but should her mother catch with of being acquainted with the male heir, she would've been hounded by the harpy to 'sink her claws' into the man. Not that she would've listened but her mothers harping voice just grated on her nerves and she had no desire to listen to it.
"It's very nice to meet you Mercy." The witch smiled even as she wanted to grimace at how the eleven-year-old acted; despite her rarely dipping into her manners, the way the girl acted just made Michelle want to shudder.
As she stepped into the Great Hall with the group, Michelle instantly took a liking to the decor of the castle; the people there at least knew how to throw an amazing party. |

| Prim gave a beatific smile to the kiss that was pressed on her lips before she returned the kiss, her arms winding around Max's waist to keep them locked for a few more seconds, her hands trailing over the bare skin on Max's back before she pulled away, a light flush on her cheeks.
"I wouldn't be surprised if Buckle was somehow part of your ensemble." Prim teased her boyfriend, pretending to look him over critically as if she was looking for the creature, expecting it to jump out and at her. The small thing was the start of Max's zoo of that she was sure. "Very authentic." She agreed seriously as she pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"...Boys." She rolled her eyes fondly even as she tugged on his hand again and moved towards the cauldrons. "Let's get those sweets then." She laughed at her eager boyfriend; it wasn't like she wasn't eager herself. She knew that those sweets were both muggle and magical and she wanted a handful of each.
"How.. will you carry them though?" She questioned with a tilt of her head. |

| "Hello!" Mercy greeted Mimosa's companions with a bright grin and a wave. Remembering she was a knight, she quickly snapped into character, clearing her throat and deepening her voice. She tucked her sword under her arm and bowed to Michelle. "M'lady."
Mercy trailed behind Mimosa as the younger girl led their group deeper inside. In her pink dress, she looked like a princess from a fairytale, which Mercy was glad to discover appropriately complemented her own costume. She thought it was fitting--Mimosa acted like a princess sometimes. She tried to keep up with the barrage of questions, her own excitement causing her to bounce a little as she walked.
"Have you seen Charles? Is he here? Or Dia? I think she was coming with Aunt Tess but I don't see her? Where is your room? Can we see it?"
"I haven't seen Charles yet, I keep missing him. I don't know if Dia is here, I'm not sure what she looks like. My room is up in the Gryffindor tower, I can take you there if you want. I'm pretty sure I remember the password..."
She stopped when Mimosa stopped. Something seemed to be wrong. The other girl looked worried as she asked after someone named Elenore. Mercy didn't know who that was, but if Mimosa wanted to find her, she was determined to help search. |

| Mimosa found herself bursting into giggles when Mercy bowed to Michelle, she was playing her part so correctly, she actually bowed instead of a curtsy. That was impressive commitment. As they moved deeper into the halls, the girl was immensely glad to see Mercy making friends with both Michelle and Jacques. Now everything would be perfect because all her friends loved each other and they would all be best friends forever.
Mercy answered her own questions just as enthusiastically as Mimosa had asked them. Dia hadn't arrived yet it would seem, or if she had, the girl was lost in the crowds. Maybe it was time to go look for her. As for Charles, Mimosa knew he would find them sooner or later. Though the moment Mercy mentioned taking ehr up to the Gryffindor room, everything else left Mimosa's mind temporarily, only the buzz of seeing a new part of the castle registering.
Taking advantage of the loud music and Jacques' temporary lapse in attention as he spoke to someone else, she brought her lips close to Mercy's ear and whispered. "Let's go find Dia and then we can go see your room!" Then she stood upright again, the picture of well behaved perfection. Hopefully no one would get suspicious. Looking around, when she saw Elenore not present in the tapestry of friends, the child asked Jacques where his sister was, but the music was too loud for her to catch the answer. He was so tall! and she was all the way down here!
But she did take away that Elenore wasn't at the party, and that would not do.
Just then, the song changed to a better tempo, and the little brunette was struck by an idea. "Michelle, Jacques, why don't you two dance? I'm sure you can dance better than everyone here. Mercy and I will go get some sweets and watch you two." She suggested. After all, she was sure she was right, she had seen Jacques dance before and he was brilliant. She was also certain Michelle was no less.
Putting an arm through Mercy's as if the Gryffindor was her private knight, she spoke "Ser Knight, what say you? We go on a quest for candy today!" And as soon as Jacques and Michelle headed to the dance floor, Mimosa skipped off with Mercy into the night. ________________________________________________

| Dominique was looking around searching for Mim. And she was also trying to find Mercy. But she only knew her by the message. So she had no idea what she was even looking for. But this was Halloween and looking around, she noticed that people were dressed up. As she asked her mom if she could be the Disney Princess Jasmine. She knew that the pureblood witches and wizards would be confused. She was hoping that she could find Mim before the night was over. She didn't want this to be a wasted night. As this was going to be her first time meeting Mercy.
So it seemed like she would have to hunt for them. Because she was sure that Mim had to be there. This was something that she wouldn't miss. This was also a chance that they would get to see Hogwarts. As next year they were going to be in their first year. So this was exciting for Dominique. As she was going to get to see where she will be going next year. She didn’t' even care what house she was in. As her mother told her that it didn't matter where she was. That she would be happy for her.
But now she was back to her original problem. As she didn't want to think about what was going to happen in the future. She needed to find Mim and Mercy. Or maybe they were trying to find her and she just needs to stay in one spot? That sounded like it would be more likely to happen. So that was when Dom decided that she was just going to stand there. Knowing that she was just lost in the crowd. And trying to find them would be pointless. If they were already looking for her. So she just stood there looking around.

| As Mimosa questioned the whereabouts of his sister, Jacques gave something of a non-committal answer to the young American witch. Elenore hadn't requested a dress for the event, which suggested she had no inclination of coming to the Ball. Saying that Elenore wouldn't be coming was likely going to mean a scene, and Jacques simply could not be bothered to deal with such things.
It seemed to work, anyway, because Mimosa didn't press the situation any further.
Jacques' eyes instead turned to the crowd, trying to pick out the other Purebloods at the event. His father had suggested the evening would be good for making his own connections, and Jacques was keen on listening to that much. After all, his Maman would most definitely find it interesting when he wrote home. Though, Jacques pushed that thought away when he heard Mimosa's next words.
Dance with Michelle? Had the young man not been a Clement he might have balked in a manner that would be noticed outwardly, but, he was fortunate enough to have been trained to keep his emotions in check. Instead, Jacques turned to the witch beside him, giving her a small smile. "Would you like to dance? I would hate to disappoint Mimosa." He asked, though he neither wished to dance, or cared for disappointing the Clement ward.
Being rude, however, was simply not an option now that Mimosa had dropped him in the situation. ________________________________________________

| "Why would you think Buckle was part of the ensemble?" Max asked increduously, before breaking out in to a soft laugh and shaking his head at the idea. "He tried. But, I told him it wouldn't be safe for him to come in here with all these people. I mean, he could get crushed, or seriously injured... He was a bit put out by the fact I'd said no, but he soon got over it when I promised him extra woodlice for being so considerate." The explanation, to anyone else, would likely have been the most weird concoction of a story in the world.
But, Prim, at least, understood Max enough to know this was simply how he was.
The kiss to his cheek brought a slight reddening to Max's cheeks, but he made no comment on it as he was pulled off towards the cauldrons full of sweets. He was surprised, of course, that Prim was going to allow him free reign with sugar, but the Gryffindor was not about to complain on the matter at all.
The question of how he was going to carry the sweeties he was planning on hoarding made Max pause. That... was a very good question... "Uhh..." Max said out loud, looking around for something to put them in. Finding a large bowl -- that had once been filled with crisps -- Max picked it up and brought it to the cauldron, filling it with a large helping of sweets before turning back to his girlfriend with a very contented smile.
"Not as stupid as I look!" He joked, before putting a larger than necessary amount of candy in to his mouth, and trying (very unsuccessfully) to eat it with some kind of manners. |

| Sophie laughed lightheartedly as Cammie guessed she was a Ravenclaw. She wasn't laughing at Cammie, just at the fact that she could never imagine herself as a Claw. They were too uptight for her liking, with no sense of adventure or exhilaration. She, on the other hand, was constantly getting adrenaline rushes from trying out new stunts and tricks. What was life if one didn't take risks? No, she needed to push the limits of her capability.
"Nope, not a Claw," Sophie responded with a grin. "I'm a Griffindor!" She raised her chin in pride. While she didn't look down on the other houses, she couldn't help but feel that Gryffindor was the best house to be in. Then again, it was probably because it suited her perfectly.
Sophie followed Cammie to the table, setting down the plate of food and drink she held in her hands. She chuckled at Cammie's statement. It was indeed a pain to wear heels, which was why Sophie only ever wore sneakers or boots. "The last ball we had, Valentine's, the dress code said nothing about shoes, just that we had to wear a suit and tie or cocktail dresses," Sophie began, recalling the outfit she'd worn. "I turned up in a dress and Chuck Taylor's. You should have seen the looks on some of the students' faces!"
"But you look amazing in that dress and heels," she continued. "I could never be comfortable in anything but jeans and a t-shirt." There were occasions she had to dress up, but she never liked those. |
