DADA Duel - Elena vs Mimosa

Well that was easy. Mimosa would never understand people like Jia En or Bushrah or Zoya who had so much trouble finding partners for group activities. The little witch herself had to keep pushing people away to work with someone she actually liked.

"Alright, lets take the left side corner, so we have plenty of space," the younger Slytherin suggested and she and Elena moved off to the side. Mimosa had seen and cheered for duels many times before but the child had never been involved in one. And after the Italian championship one... She wasn't sure she wanted to.

But this would be really different, Elena wasn't like the beautifully scary lady who had hurt someone with her magic hair.

"Here, let me show you something cool," the American offered with a grin, bending down into a full proper courtsey instead of the traditional dueling bow like Jake had indicated. "My grandmere says Ladies don't bow, we merely courtesy, its much prettier."

With that, she motioned for Elena to go first, taking out her own wand and preparing for whatever the lder witch threw at her.

Elena nodded and followed Mimosa to the left. It definitely was bigger and gave her enough space with Mimosa. "This definitely does give us better space" she did agree. When Mimosa curtsies she couldn't help but smile because it did make sense for a female to curtsy then bow. Elena curtsied just for the hell of it like Mimosa before she lifted her wand.

She got into the mind set that this was class and not real life even though she would bet that she would be the same. The blonde knew her dueling spells with heart but so did the younger girl. "Stupefy!" Was the first spell she threw at Mimosa. The spell flew out and was making its way towards Mimosa. Elena was ready to see what kind of dueling spells that Mimosa had up her sleeve. No matter what Elena was ready for whatever was thrown her way.

Despite Elena giving her plenty of time to get ready, Mimosa was still caught off guard when the older witch tossed her first spell. Of course, Mimosa's first instinct in self defense had never been to use her wand, she was more used to the far superior tactic of jumping behind someone - it had never occurred to the little witch that some day she might be in a situation where there would be no one to hide behind.

Still, by force of habit, the young model did jump, avoiding the straight trajectory of the hex Elena had thrown cleanly. The spell flew behind her and hit someone else but Mimosa didn't turn around to look. She was sure whoever it had contacted would be fine.

"Good one," she called out when she was sure there was no danger. Elena at least wasn't hurling spell after spell at her like Ji Hyun and Squid Boy were doing off in their corner. "Let me try something." With that, she waved her wand in the hand motion she remembered before squealing out the incantation.

"Aguamenti!" a tiny jet of water shot at Elena, aimed for her shoulder because Mimosa didn't really want to mess up the girl's hair, and the unform would dry out soon enough.

Elena watched as her spell didn't in fact hit Mimosa since she jumped out of the way and in fact did hit someone else entirely. She felt a little bad but didn't pay much attention as she focused herself on Mimosa. The younger Slytherin was good in school that much was clear, but Elena was always told never to take your eyes off your opponent and she was not about to take her eyes off of Mimosa.

The younger Slytherin did her spell and water hit Elena in the shoulder and she nodded. "That was good" Elena commented on the younger Witch. She then put herself in position and fired her next duel spell. "Legomotor Mortis " she threw the spell that locks your opponents legs together. She watched as her spell went towards Mimosa. The younger Slytherin was good, but so was Elena and it made it fun since they were both Slytherin.

The little witch squealed happily when her tiny water jet hit Elena square on the shoulder where she'd aimed. Mimosa knew her aim was good, she always hit the bludger right when she practiced with Squid Boy. But the Slytherin team was tough and Squid Boy had to be on the reserve team first. With Ozzy, he was always going into teacher mode even in the middle of the game, totally throwing of the younger Slytherin's play.

The next spell that Elena sent at her was not one Mimosa knew off, all she knew was that she had to deflect it somehow. So the child raised her wand, using one of the only three spells she actually knew. As the flash of light from Elena raced towards her, Mimosa spoke in a high pitched chirp.

"Protego!"

A flimsy shield formed in front of the eleven year old but to Mimosa, it was the biggest, baddest shield in the world. Had the older Slytherin sent a more nasty spell, the shield would have crumbled instantly. As it was, the fragile barrier deflected the spell, disintegrating in the process but now sending Elena's spell right back at her.

"Oh no!" Mimosa called out, trying to warn the girl. She hadn't imagined the spell would reflect and go back to where it had come from. 'Elena watch out!"

Elena watched as Mimosa smartly put up a shield, but that was bad news for her because her spell came back at her. Elena moved out of the way just in time to see the chains just fall to the ground. She looked at Mimosa. "Whoops" Elena was just glad that they just stopped and not wrap around anyone who was dueling. She looked at Mimosa and raised her wand.

"Expelliarmus" Elena did the correct hand motion and sent her spell towards the younger girl to disarm her. Elena loved this spell because of it actually got to the person who was your opponent and their wand goes flying, it gives you a chance to either knock them out or run. Elena finally mastered this spell a year after she learned it. She never got the hand motion correctly but now she did so it was more effective then before.

Thankfully, the older Slytherin was able to dodge her own curse and remain unhurt. What happened to the spell after it bypassed Elena was none of Mimosa's concern. Out of sight, out of mind, as the witch often practiced, believing most bad things simply ceased to exist when she couldn't see or sense them.

The next spell Elena tried was another one the younger witch wasn't familiar with, and at first she wondered what it was supposed to do since nothing happened the first few seconds.

Then she felt it, her wand trying to tug itself out of her small hand. "Oh no you don't!" Mimosa squealed as the wand tried to escape, dragging teh second year a few steps forwards with force and making the tiny witch pull even harder. "No way!" she added, gritting erh teeth and trying to hold on to ehr wand as tightly as she could. The affect would leave bruises on ehr tender skin later but for now, all Mimosa could think of was to keep her wand in control.

By the time Mimosa finally won the battle, she had been dragged halfway to Elena by the struggling wand. But eventually, the spell wore out and the young model breathed a sigh of relief. "Wow, that was a strong one. Can you teach me that?"

Moving back to her original position, she pointed her wand at Elena once more, now being her turn. Unsure what to do, she simply pointed the wand at the older witch and murmured the first spell that came to mind. "Windgardium Leviosa!" Of course, Mimosa only remembered the words, she had completely forgotten what the charm actually did so she waited just as excitedly as Elena did to see what effect the spell would have on the blonde Slytheirn.

Elena watched as Mimosa fought the spell. Elena had to admit it was very amusing to be honest. The young girl was definitely a determined one which was good. The sorting hat definitely made the right choice in sorting her into Slytherin. When Mimosa faught it off she asked of Elena could teach her. "Yes, of course" Elena was down for that.

Elena saw the hand movement and the beginning of the words of the duel that was happening and Elena pointed her wand. "Protego" Elena used her own shield. It was better then Mimosa's but not by much since she was still growing as her person and a Witch. Elena watched as the spell Mimosa threw at her went back to its owner. Elena knew she was going to feel bad if the young girl didn't deflect it like before. But then again Mimosa was definitely going to be better when she's older.

Mimosa had never expected her own tactic to be thrown back at her. To the child, the idea that her shield had deflected a spell did not in the slightest relate to Elena's shield doing the same so when the levitation charm was sent her way, the child had no time or sense to retaliate.

Instead, the girl watched at first in panic and then wide eyed wonder when the spell swept her off her feet and floating a few feet above ground, giving her a spectacular view of everyone's head. Wow, she was even taller than Jake up here!

"Good one," she called out from her place in the air, her months of riding high and fast on ehr special broom not making ehr at all dizzy or uncomfortable where she floated. It felt a little strange to not be in control of her levitation height and speed and direction, but on the whole it wasn't all that different from going on a ride with Mercy. Mimosa always rode slowly with Mercy, trying to take longer to return the Gryfindor to her tower.

"Hmm, lets see," she pondered, aiming her wand at Elena even as the spell lifted her further up, the ends of her robes now level with most people's heads. "Legomotor Mortis! " Mimosa cried out, using the hand motion she had seen Elena do earlier. The second year had no idea what the spell did since it hadn't hit her, but from this angle high above, it would be impossible for Elena to dodge.

Elena watched as the spell hit Mimosa and she floated up slowly into the air. She really hoped that the young girl liked heights because she was now floating. Elena had a smile on her face because she thought it was funny but because she was admiring what she had done. Her father would definitely be proud of her. "Thanks" she replied happily when Mimosa complimented her for the shield that had caused her to float.

The smile was off her face though when it came to the spell that spilled out of Mimosa's lips. She knew she was going to get hit with it and of course she did. The chains wrapped around her ankles that caused her to fall on her butt. "Damnit" she mumbled. "That was good" she complimented Mimosa. For a girl her age she was good. She had to admit she was a little nervous when it came to dueling with her but not anymore.
