| The first flying lesson hadn't been a great success, but Jake didn't let that bother him. Nor did the snow that now blanketed the ground deter him from heading out to the Quidditch pitch on the Friday afternoon. With a scarf and hat in place, and a pair of Quidditch gloves to keep him warm, Jake stood waiting for his students to arrive.
From time to time he would jump up and down, trying to keep himself warm, but for the most part, Jake was doing okay.
Hopefully his students had dressed up warm too, otherwise it was going to be a long hour for them all.
Today's lesson was hopefully going to be a little more engaging - to stop everyone from freezing to death - in that Jake had come up with something a little more unique to interest those who'd been to lessons before, and hopefully entice the newer flyers to try more moves.
Ultimately, though, this lesson was just about having fun. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| Ivan was ready for this class. He loved flying, and quidditch. So the idea of a flying class just really excited him. He practically skipped his way to the Quidditch pitch only stopping when somebody passed. It was not cool for 13 year old boys to skip. He ran his fingers through his hair nervously and continued on his way not skipping anymore. He didn't want to damage his already awesome reputation. He noticed that this class was for all years, and that the years weren't being split up. He groaned and hoped that Bella wouldn't be in here. But with his luck, she surly would. He loved his big sister and everything, but he didn't want to spend every waking moment with her. Being in the same house with her was bad enough. He dealt with her enough during the holidays as well.
He smiled proudly as this was the first time in the history of ever that Ivan was the first to lessons. He was the type who wanted to fit into the crowd so he tried not to care so much about his studies. He then realized how cold it was. He didn't think things through all the way and just wore his Gryffindor cloak with his uniform. He shivered a little bit, but tried to not give himself away. After all, Ivan was cool. He wasn't a wimp. He nodded to the professor. And secretly hoped that Bella didn't show up.

| Bennett was always happy to go to Flying lesson, even if it meant he had to keep himself up for a while longer. Not only that, he had Muggle Studies right after this. He tightened his coat and walked over from the grounds to the Pitch, only to find Professor Newbury and the idiotic Ivan Krupp already there. Where had the peasant been last class anyway? Probably skipping and trying to be cool. Ivan Krupp would never be cool. Dumb people were never cool. Not caring much for the boy, Bennett walked up with his Firebolt in hand. He wasn't sure if he was going to need it, but he was being prepared. It wouldn't be fun to have to walk back and get it.
Greeting the professor with a grin, Bennett stood on the other side of the Gryffindor boy, ready to overshadow him in whatever it was Krupp wanted to show off. Sure, the Gryffindor was good but Bennett was sure he was better. After all, being the son of a professional Quidditch player meant he actually had natural talent, which his father made sure to enhance by lessons of his own.

| Finley was not a good flyer, but he was slowly getting better. Well, perhaps to an acceptable level for a first year. The thought of flying still made him nervous, as he and Naomi crossed the grounds. Naomi was a good flyer, though she was good at everything. Not in a show off way, but in a way that Finley admired more than he could say.
As they stepped through the arch to the Quidditch Pitch, it was clear they weren't going to be the first students there, not that Finley minded. Bennett was there, but the other boy, Finley only knew because he was popular in the school. Finley knew that this simply meant he had to stay out of his way.
Smiling towards the professor, Finley looked around for a clue as to what they would be doing today. There wasn't one, so he figured it was either a basic lesson, or a secret. Whatever it was, Finley just wanted it to hurry up because the snow was making the grounds very, very cold. As his nose attested to, already being a subtle red. |

| Shockingly, her first flying lesson had gone pretty well and it made her almost want to join the Quidditch team, had she not thought of the fact that she was only a first year. She walked out onto the grounds, the cool air smacking her in her face, turning it immediately a bright red. She was glad that after Defense Against the Dark Arts she had time to grab her winter coat or this class would have been quite painful. She had also exchanged her shoes for snow boots and her skirt for pants. The uniforms were ridiculous and nowhere near warm, but it was bearable.
It wasn't a long walk to the Quidditch Pitch, but it was a cool one. Bennett and Finely had once against arrived prior to her and there was a third student there as well. Once again, she gave them all a smile before nodding her head towards Professor Newbury. Flying would be a pain today, the air would be colder in the air and she was not looking forward to that. Her gloved hands fiddled with each other while she waited for the rest of the class to arrive.
Some of her classes seemed to be filled with students, while others seemed bare. She hadn't ran into the boy, Jacques, since that day at the lake and for that, she was grateful. Usually, she was able to kill people with kindness, but he was different. Sure, he was sort of cute, but he was not the same as her. She was caring and nice and he seemed the opposite. She hoped she'd make a friend soon, as opposed to enemies, or Hogwarts would be lonely. |

| Flying. In the air. Above ground. Aristotle was not going to like this class. He wouldn't have taken it had it not been in his family's wishes. His mother and Dante had wanted to see Ari flying in the air, and he didn't have the heart to tell them he was more likely to fall off the broom and break an arm than he was of staying on it. They were all excited to learn that he was a wizard, and Ari could not bring himself to let them down. His feet carried him towards the dreadful Quidditch pitch. The basics he had learned were still foggy, he hadn't mastered them.
His mind was racing with possible ways he could hurt himself. He could, as he had already thought, fall off his broom in mid air. He could hit his face with the handle of the broom, or get a splinter. So far, he knew he had a better chance ending up in the Hospital Wing than anywhere else.
As he finally saw the spots of what should be people way ahead of him, Aristotle squinted his eyes to see them better. There were some students, mostly male, he counted, and as he got closer he realized they were also older than he was and much taller. To get things straight, he was going to have to fly with a handful of older kids who already had experience. Super. Sighing, Ari came closer to the crowd, making sure to stay away from the older kids. There was a girl among the older kids, and the only other girl he recognized from the sorting ceremony only. The rest were boys too tall compared to him, all with dark hair, two with blue eyes and the third with brown eyes. Aristotle could have risked it and said they looked friendly enough, but the boy with the curls and blue eyes did not look very friendly at all. Neither did the one with brown eyes. Or the other blue-eyed Ravenclaw, who he now recognized from the Common Room.
In fact, nobody looked friendly. Ari sank back into himself and glanced at the professor, waiting and hoping for this class to start soon. The sooner he got it over with, the better. |

| Alberi didn't want to go to another class from this type but he had already been to the first one and it would be rather foolish from his side to skip this as well. So here he was, walking towards the most useless class in the school. And followed by Care of Magical Creatures. He hates both of those classes, for different reason but still meant something so he hated them. Other classes he liked, more or less, but those two...
Alberi walked to class, not minding the cold for the moment. It was the snow that bothered him. What idiot made up with flying in the coldest of weather... They might as well have put them on Mount Everest! Alberi grumbled to himself in his mind why keeping a face showing no emotion. He had pretty much mastered it now. He always used his so called 'death glare', otherwise he'd use a smirk.
Alberi noticed some people and made sure not to be near anyone. He disliked being social and people over all. Though he knew that he could at least try to befriend someone, no one would put up with him and he doubted he'd like someone enough to befriend them. Everyone seemed like idiots. |

| Naomi happily walked with Finley to Flying. It was one of her favorite classes, not only because she loved being outside and loved flying, but because it was taught by her favorite professor.
"Hello, Jake," Naomi said, greeting the professor in a normal speaking voice, which for her was the equivalent of shouting it across the field. She danced happily in place, one gloved hand gripping the handle of her broom.
While most of the other students were bundled up and Finley didn't appear to like the cold one bit, Naomi was completely comfortable in pants, boots, and a sweater, along with gloves and a hat because she was cold hardy, not insane. Her da sometimes joked that she was his little polar bear, as she rarely wore any sort of real winter gear, no matter how cold it got.
Naomi was so excited for the lesson that when she glanced around at the other students, she even beamed at them, despite the fact that quite a few looked put out by the cold weather. |

| Flying was interesting, because Madison loved being in control of something that could fly, even if it wasn't a living thing. She wasn't allowed her own broom, unfortunately, because her father was apparently punishing her for something she did (or didn't, rather) do during the holidays. It didn't matter; she had found a place that sold them via owl and she purchased one using her pocket money.
It wasn't due to arrive till the next week, however, which was unfortunate.
Moving onto the pitch, she noted Finley standing there and smirked for a brief moment before changing it to a smile and bounding over. "Hello, Jake!" she called out, smiling widely and waving before turning to Finley. "And hello, Finn," she added, lowering her tone. He looked absolutely freezing and she hesitated just a moment before slipping off her scarf and handing it to him.
The cold, she could deal with.
"Here, put this on. I've got one too many layers on as is," she told him, not waiting before wrapping it around his neck for him. |

| As the students began to arrive, Jake smiled towards each of them, greeting them all with a soft 'hello'. Most looked quite cold in the weather, which was amusing to Jake, who had spent three years playing for a Canadian Quidditch team which plummeted in to coldness during the winter. Deciding not to pull them up on this though, Jake checked his watch.
It seemed like it was time to crack on with the lesson, so, clapping his gloved hands together to get everyone's attention, Jake raised his voice so everyone could hear. "Good morning, everyone!" Jake greeted them once more, just in case they hadn't heard his first individual hello to each of them. "Hope you're well and not too in to the Christmas spirit just yet!" He joked softly, though he could guess they probably were ready for the holidays by now.
"Today, we're going to have some fun." Jake explained, looking between the faces. "Basically, you're going to fly around, and try to catch the balls of your houses' colour, put them in the bins." Jake indicated, a subtle flick of his wand making four coloured bins appear. "It sounds simple, but you're going to be up against snow balls! Don't worry, I have charmed them to recognise confident and non-confident flyers, so you won't be dealing with anything too much if you're not a strong flier. It's a bit of fun. The winners..." Jake prompted, hoping to catch everyone's attention.
"Are the ones who have the most fun!" He concluded, motioning for them all to get going. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~
