Herbology Lesson 1 (All Years)

Finley had been sat trying to get out of the plant's grip whilst also trying not to bring attention to himself. The Ravenclaw hated attention on himself so he wasn't about to call out to the professor for help, especially when he should have listened to the instructions properly in the first place, and most certainly shouldn't have come over without the torch.

He'd been too eager and he'd gotten himself stuck.

Well, for a time, before he knew it the Head Girl was over beside him with a witch somewhere around his age too. The Head Girl was telling him to relax - using his name... how did she know his name he wondered, looking up at the very beautiful older witch before looking away with a small blush in his cheeks. "O-okay." He murmured in response to her words of relaxing.

Finley frowned a little at the Gryffindor's words, not sure what she was trying to say if he was honest, but she helped him get out of the plant, so he managed a small smile. "Th... Thank y-you." Finley told the witch, rubbing his wrist gently and moving away from the plant that was moving away from the light. That would have been so easy if he'd of listened.

"It looks like it's dancing."

"It's in d-discomfort." Finley replied softly, gently pushing the torchlight away from the plant. "Y-you only use light against it w-when it's hurting t-things." He insisted, not wanting the plant to be too uncomfortable.

Felix frowned learning the plant was in distress from the light so she turned off the torch and put it on the table. "Well it hurt you, so guess we're even now." She grinned again, getting over the guilt pretty quickly then linked her arm through the boy's and lead him away from the plant to let other people have a go with it.

She lead him back to Victoria, smiling up at the head girl. "What now miss?" She asked, eager to do something else now that she'd lost interest in the devil's snare and her ever moving mind was looking to get on with something else.
"can we try the big one? With the older students? Please? Please? Please?" She begged, looking over at the line of students heading up to try their luck with the larger plant. The little gryffindor was sure she could do just as well with it.

Victoria watched the two younger students working together, smiling to herself. Oh, it was adorable, especially when the Gryffindor 'saved' the Ravenclaw. Reversing gender stereotypes, and hopefully making friends in the process. But what made the Head Girl happier was that there were not only manners, but the Ravenclaw was teaching the younger witch not to hurt the plants.

Victoria had watched from afar, not wanting to interrupt, and the moment the Felix tucked her arm in Finley's, Victoria could see the discomfort. The younger witch was looking straight at her now, and when she asked what was next, Victoria smiled. "Now, I think you should let Finley go, he doesn't look very comfortable." Victoria whispered playfully to the witch, smiling reassuringly at the young wizard who looked quite thankful for her intervening.

But the question of them trying the bigger activity, Victoria shook her head. "Professor Peat says that it's just for the older students, I'm afraid. When you're older, I'm sure you'll get to have a go with the plant, the professors are good like that." Victoria insisted with a warm smile, hoping the Gryffindor wouldn't be too disappointed.

Standing back, Damien kept his eyes firmly on the shaft above, smiling slightly as the first person up was - naturally - the Head Girl. She was by far one of the nicest people he had ever met and it was a pleasure to have her and Allegra, who was also one of his favourite people, in his class. His hand held his wand lightly, his grip loose. At any time he was ready to intervene should anything go wrong, but he was confident that Victoria would not mess up in any way. True enough, she was soon out, and he returned her smile.

The next to go was Josh and Damien didn't bring himself to watch. The boy, he was sure, was more than capable of doing it, and Dami was cautious of everything he did when it came to being around the prefect. Josh came out without issues, and again the man avoided looking directly at the Slytherin.

There was a pause in movement, and he didn't try to encourage anyone to go - if they were too afraid, he wasn't going to pressure them into doing it. Looking around, he noticed a young Ravenclaw, Finley, having problems with the smaller specimens, and was about to step in when Victoria did so for him. Smiling at the witch, he gave her a slight nod and let her do whatever she needed to.

Glancing down at his watch once again, he frowned a little. It seemed that time had gone faster than expected, and he gave a clap of his hands. "Okay, class, time is up for today. Good job to everyone who participated. I apologize to those who haven't had a chance. Come see me during your free time and I will let you have that opportunity if you want to. Again, this is only for the older years."

Once they were gone, he would go over his specimens, checking for damages and repotting them for safety. Not bad for a first class, he mused to himself, watching them leave.
