| As the lesson started Sterling turned his attention to Jake. The teacher greeted the class and gave them their first assignment and the boy turned to glare at his friends as they talked the whole time. He understood they were excited, but he couldn't hear the professor as well over their chit-chat. He shook his head and looked to a young first year as she squealed excitedly, saying how she was on the Slytherin team and she knew how to do a lap before she mounted her broom.
He eyed her Firebolt Flash jealously, frowning at the fact she had defaced the poor thing with her initials. A broom such as that should have been left alone in his opinion. She mounted her broom as another of the first years took off, seeming a bit shaky as she kicked off, but gaining confidence as she went. The boy watched that girl for a moment, but really his attention was on the Firebolt Flash.
The broom was a limited edition and sterling could hardly take his eyes off it. The younger girl hardly had to touch the broom for it to react to her will. And the speed! She was back to the group in 10 seconds flat and he shook his head. He could only wish to have a broom with that speed, but now was not the time to focus on that.
He had to show Jake just what he could do. He wasn't exactly interested improving himself, per se, but it wouldn't hurt to show off a bit for the former Quidditch player. Besides, Dia was here too and he couldn't help but give the girl a quick smile before he mounted his own broom.
He took a deep breath and kicked off smoothly. Other kids raced by him, including his friends, but he took it at a reasonable pace, showing off his smooth turns and arrived back with a grin on his face. He had gone fast, but not the fastest he could go, and was pleased with himself. The ride had been smooth, with little to no mistakes, and it wasn't a race, therefore there was no point in trying to turn it into one.
Whereas the young Slytherin seeker immediately looked for validation from Jake sterling simply got off his broom and stood there, waiting as patiently as he could for the other students to get back and for the lesson to continue. |

| Janet waited for the lesson to start, mouth opening in a small yawn that she pulled one hand up to hide. She was exhausted, and while the jog here had helped wake her up some, she knew she was going to feel like this until after the exams. She grimaced at the thought of exams but pushed them from her thoughts as Jake started the lesson.
The girl knew the basics of flying, most people did, but as she let go of her broom and mounted it, she couldn't seem to remember much about flying. It seems to have been forever, even though her father seemed to think she should be winning races, considering the broom he got for her. She took a deep breath, thinking over the steps of flying and scowling at her broom.
The next step was to kick off, and that she did, rising quickly in the air with a gasp. She hovered there for a moment. She seemed to know how to go up and down. She tested her theories, grinning when they were right. She just couldn't seem to remember how to go forward. She scowled and lowered herself back to the ground, walking over to stand by Jake. So much for knowing the basics. She had flown before, but she couldn't seem to remember anything about it, she sighed, she needed some sleep. |

| Dominique knew that she was a little nervous about the class. But she wasn't going to let that get the best of her. She then smiled as she saw who the teacher was. And she knew that she would be in good hands. At least Dominique was told that she didn't have to call him professor. So it seemed to make her feel a little more relaxed. Looking around, she then noticed that she was the only one without a broom.
That meant that she would have to use one of the school's broom. Hopefully her parents would buy her own broom soon. This was her first time, so she was going to hang back with Jake. So that way he could teach her. Dominique noticed that Sterling was here, she never told him that she has never been on a broom. She just hoped that she didn't embarrass herself in front of him.
And also Mimosa was in the class. But she knew that Mimosa knew how to fly. As she had a limited edition broom. Dominique hoped over the summer she would be getting one. ________________________________________________

| Flying was not a lesson the Fifth Years took. Most of them already knew how to fly, or not. There were people that simply never learned, for who knows what reason, and then there were the people that didn't truly care about flying. Nerisei belonged in neither of those categories. On the contrary, she was a great flyer, but she was simply never fond of Quidditch. Or more like, fond of playing the game. Watching was something she enjoyed.
But to her surprise, she wasn't the only older student to attend the class. Familiar faces started appearing and that brought a smile to the witch's lips. She wouldn't be alone. A dun lesson was in order, it seemed. First came Riley, the young Gryffindor she had saved the other day, followed by her newly made friend, Janet. Nerisei greeted both witches with a big smile. Last but not least, Mimosa came as well, greeting the Ravenclaw full of excitement. Nerisei didn't know why she loved Mimosa so much, but a smile was always on her face, every time she saw the young witch.
Before she could say much, though, Jake --she still found it really hard not to call him Professor-- spoke up, explaining how the lesson was going to go down. Nerisei's smile touched her ears as Jake said they could do a lap, if they felt comfortable enough. Nerisei didn't waste time. Her friends had already started with their laps, Mimosa being one of the first, and Neri couldn't help but admire as the little girl flew. She truly was very good.
Riding her broom, Nerisei kicked off the ground, ascending with ease. Once the height was something Nerisei thought she could work with, the Ravenclaw leaned forward, her broom speeding up in a matter of seconds. The wind was, thankfully, blowing her curls back, away from her face, making Nerisei's flying much easier. It didn't take her much time to do one lap, and once she was over, she slowly flew back to the ground, landing perfectly. All she had to do now was wait for the next instructions. |

| The enthusiasm from Mimosa and a number of the younger students brought a smile to Jake's lips, and he watched them head off. Riley was a little slower off, whereas Mimosa had completed a lap on her broom before Jake could even blink.
"How was that?"
"I almost missed it! Try it again, but this time a little bit slower." Jake told the witch, not wishing to dampen her spirits. "Oh, and, extra points if you figure of eight the goal posts, too!" Jake added, giving the witch a challenge seeing as she was obviously capable of flying.
The sense of pride inside of Jake would have to wait until later.
When Sterling touched back down, Jake gave the boy a smile to show he'd done well. "Entertain yourself for a moment -- see if you can keep up with Mimosa, if you like." Jake told the boy, turning his attention instead to Janet and Dominique who seemed to be stuck with the basics.
"Okay, ladies." Jake told them, laying his trusted Firebolt 2 on the ground beside him on his left hand side. "First thing is first, we have to show the broom who is in control. Lay your broom on the floor on your dominant side -- usually the side of the hand you write with. Then, hold your hand out above the broom and say 'up'." Jake explained, doing exactly that. His broom, from years of practice rose perfectly in to Jake's hand. "Give that a go, then we can move on." Jake insisted, turning to look at how the rest were getting on.
Once Mimosa and Sterling were back, Jake moved from the beginners, momentarily, to retrieve the belts with tags upon them. "Okay, you three, I want each of you to put a belt around your waist. We're going to play tag, of sorts. Mimosa, here's the green belt." Jake handed hers. "Sterling, you'll have yellow, and Nerisei, blue.
"You're going to play a game where you have to steal as many tags off of the others. The winner will be the one who finishes with the most tags. There is to be no knocking of one another's brooms. And no dangerous manoeuvres such as pushing people in to the stands." Jake explained.
"You have... five seconds to get away from here, then you can play."
With that, Jake moved back to Dominique and Janet. "How are we getting on?" ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| Dominique smiled as she wasn't the only person who didn't know how to fly. And she was doing this with Janet. Now if she wanted a broom and wanted to play quidditch next year. She would have to learn from Jake. Dominique had forgotten to tell Sterling that she has never been on a broom before. That would be because of her mother who is very protective. At least she had a school broom, they were good enough to at least learn how to fly.
While Mimosa, Sterling and Nerisei where off playing a game of tag. She had a broom on her right side, as it was her dominant side. Dominique was trying to do that everything that Jake did. All she had to do was hold her hand over the broom and say up. Which sounded very simple and she hoped that she wouldn't make a fool out of herself.
When she first said it, she sounded nervous. And had no idea why it wasn't coming up like Jake's did. Jake then turned his attention back to them. And asked how they was getting it. Which Dominique felt like she was failing. “ I don't think I am getting the hang of it."

| The child let out a high pitched giggle when Jake confessed how fast she'd been. She bet she was faster than the wind on her broom, something that only mdse the child giggle harder as she got ready to start on the second challenge. She wished Mercy was here to see her go so fast!
"Okay Jake," she called out, already leaning forwards on her broom to propel it back up. "I'll try to slow down enough for you to see me," and with that, she was off once more.
The practicing with Ozskar had paid off even if the girl couldn't properly lift her bat yet. She had been advised many times to change her mind on what position she wanted to play as both her stature and broom supported that of a Seeker but the little witch was damnation. She would be a Beater come what may.
But that didn't mean she had not been working on her flying. the turns and edges she had so feared when she had started her training with Ozzy were now almost perfect, he had even taught her how to cling to her broom when it rolled and after a few terrifying starts, she had almost gotten it. It also helped that her broom had just about the finest grip and balance gold could buy.
So the figure eight around the hoops was by no means a tall order. Though the young Slytherin did slow down substantially, still fast enough to outstrip anyone who would try to compete with her speed but slow enough so that she wasn't playing the seconds game anymore. It was relaxing really, flying at above normal speeds which seemed slow to the child in comparison to what her broom could actually do. She languished around the hoops, forming the double circles in the figure eight required before touching down on to the ground once again.
"I did it!" she exclaimed, her face shining with delight at her own accomplishment. "Did you see Jake? Did you see me up there? Did I do good?" ________________________________________________

| Sterling frowned at the challenge. That hardly seemed fair, to instruct him to try and keep up with herlimited edition broom, but he nodded determinedly anyways. He could at least give it his best shot.
Mimosa had gotten a head start, being off the ground again before Sterling had landed, but he spotted her quickly and he pushed himself off the ground, gripping his broom tight and keeping his eyes on her. She was the snitch now. He narrowed his eyes and pushed his broom as fast as it could go. He zoomed after her, performing the curves of the circle perfectly, even hugging closer to the goal posts than the younger girl had, hoping to cut off some time. He hadn't caught up to her of course but touched down pretty soon after she had, even catching the end of her sentence.
"Did I do good?"
The young witch asked and Sterling ignored her, knowing she wasn't talking to him, and taking the moment to replay the fast-paced previous events in his mind. He'd done pretty well in his head and hadn't let the faster speed of the girl's broom deter him. He said nothing and waited for their next assignment.
It came soon after they had touched down, Jake handing out the belts and explaining the game as he wrapped his yellow belt around his waist. He nodded, showing he understood the instructions and as Jake said they had five seconds he sped to a position above the goal posts, counting in his head and waiting for the fifth second so the game could begin. |

| Jake instructed them to do the most basic of flying tasks, and Janet had to bite back a sigh. She knew this part plenty well and set her broom down beside her on her right and stuck out her hand, commanding calmly "up." The broom raised itself some, though not enough to fit in her hand before falling back to the ground unceremoniously.
She groaned and glared at the broom before squaring her shoulders and trying again. "Up," she ordered, her tone a bit more strict this time and the broom finally obeyed. She grinned and looked at Jake to await their next task, nodding as he asked how it was going. "Perfectly fine, thank you, sir." She wished her broom had followed her command on the first try, but the second try wasn't bad, and she had seen Dia struggle a bit more with her broom, so she wasn't too upset. |

| The lesson was going pretty well, so far. It had been a while --4 years, to be exact--, since she had last had a Flying lesson, and the witch was slightly worried that maybe she wouldn't have that much fun. Thankfully, her worries hadn't come true. Professor Newbury was doing an excellent job on keeping everyone happy and occupied.
Nerisei waited patiently as Mimosa had to do another round, due to the first one being 'too fast', and during that time, she allowed herself to take notes on how Jake was actually teaching. It wasn't a secret that Nerisei wanted to become a Potions Mistress, and, potentially, she could work at Hogwarts. But was she truly fit to become a Professor? Though, before she had time to overthink all of that, Mimosa was back, and so was that Hufflepuff boy, Goldwasser.
And no dangerous manoeuvres such as pushing people in to the stands."
Nerisei took the blue belt with a smile, tying it around her waist whilst waiting for the other two to do the same. To be fair, Nerisei would have tried hard to win this, seeing that she was a competitive young witch. But going against Mimosa... it was impossible to deny the girl her victory. The Ravenclaw knew Mimosa had great talent and this would be a great chance for her to show off, in a way. Nerisei, being her friend, was going to help with that.
"You have... five seconds to get away from here, then you can play."
"Show me what you got, Mimosa!" Nerisei yelled playfully, moving away in those five seconds, before mounting her broom and kicking off the ground. The game had just started. |
