Annagramma nodded. The dress wasn't like her. But doing whatever it took to be part of Alex's life, that was certainly her.

The room fell silent at the Lord Clement's demand. Never had Jacques heard his Papa in such a manner, never had the man looked so incensed at Jacques.

"Papa-"

"Non. The House comes before everything else." Louis reminded him quite simply. "The two of you will work this out, and your Maman and I will be happier for it."

The reminder of upsetting his mother did little to stop the aching in Jacques' chest. A reminder he'd done little in the past few years except disappoint.

"She needs to be with child, then you can do as you please."

Next prompt: I can't keep my eyes open very much longer.

"I'm the same now," she mumbled, head resting on his shoulder.

She felt him shake his head sadly. "Nothing is the same."

The brunette hmm'ed again.

"You know, the impossible thing we look for in a Lady Clement? You have it, in spades."

Azalea didn't understand, she was already asleep.

"Come on, come on, we're going to miss the lights being turned on!" Jake insisted, quite excited at the prospect of doing this as a family once again this year.

"Dad, we're teenagers nowwwww." Andrew whined, rolling his eyes as he took his girlfriend's hand and headed towards the car. How they'd been allowed to have a sleepover at their age, Jake still wasn't sure, but Azalea had assured him it would be fine.

"And it's still a Christmas tradition!" Jake replied simply, grabbing the keys from the side and heading to the car.

"You married a weird one, mom."

"Jake."

"Why are you so calm about all this? Have you forgotten she's our child? Or what happens on a wedding night? I thought we trusted him!"

"We do." Azalea tried to reason gently. "That's why I'm calm, Jacques would never hurt her."

Jake was quiet, they both knew she was being reasonable and logical and he didn't like to admit that much.

It wasn't right, a grown man marrying a child.

But, then, the Clement's had history there.

History was repeating.

The youngest Newbury looked over to his father with confusion mixed with admiration. It had been a turbulent number of years with his dad, the Auror always struggling with the correct pronouns, and actually accepting him for who he was.

It made his chest swell with admiration as he shook the Minister's hand.

"Nice to meet you, sir." Andrew greeted the older man.

Giving his dad a small smile of thanks, Andrew headed in to the event feeling much more comfortable than he had an hour before as he pulled on his tux.

"Come on, we can have fun again..." The DADA professor insisted as he nuzzled Azalea's neck carefully.

"Just because we're both at the castle now doesn't mean that we-"

Jake's hand had gently cupped her breast in that moment, his lips upon her throat making the pen in the assistant headmistresses hand drop back to the desk.

"D-Don't you have to pick Adrienne up?"

"We have time." Jake whispered in her ear, his lips moving to gently nip the soft skin in turn.

It didn't take much more convincing to have Azalea relent to his wishes that afternoon.
