He didn't have to hear an answer as the hand in his own gently squeezed his fingers in reply.

Eyes swimming as they opened to the world, the Lord Clement relented and closed his eyes once more.

"Elenore?"

The croak of his daughter's name was barely enough to be heard.

"She's here." Ven replied gently. "She's home, where she belongs."

Another time, Louis might have caught on to the worry in his wife's voice, but as his eyes closed tiredly he accepted the statement, relieved that their troubles had been resolved.

That Elenore was home safely.

Sleep came.

"Why does Grandmere hide away whenever something big happens?"

Louis looked down at his curious granddaughter with amusement upon his features.

"Why would you think your Grandmere is hiding?"

"Well... She's not here." Aurore replied simply.

Louis conceded that much.

"Well, the world can't see her take on the Gods in the manner she does. The ferocity would be too much for us mortals."

Aurore frowned back at him. "The Gods?"

Louis nodded.

"You don't believe in the Gods though, Grandpere."

"It doesn't matter what I believe in, only that your Grandmere believes her battle will give us all success."

"Here comes the aeroplane, Holden!" Victoria cooed gently, her son's eyes watching the spoon with the same hungry look he had every time the witch fed him.

The fond smile upon her lips shone back in Holden's eyes as he grasped at the spoon and drew the plastic in to his mouth quicker to get the mushed carrot.

"Mummy's little boy is getting strong!"

"And so's Holden." Jackson replied as he snaked his arms around his wife's waist, pressing a kiss to her shoulder.

"The strongest." She agreed playfully with a laugh, scooping more carrot on to Holden's spoon.

Ivan looked between the two of them, no words coming from his mouth.

Andrew's glare was firmly back at his dad.

"Well, if Ivan could just have a back bone!"

"You didn't need to-"

"Of course I had to, Ivan."

"It's not a who has the biggest dick competition all the time!"

"Well, good for you, because you'd never fucking win!"

"Andrew! I'm not bailing you out of the precinct again, okay?"

"Fine. I won't save Ivan's ass. AGAIN!"

Andrew stormed off ahead of the other two, not ready to talk.

Jacques' eyes moved to the other man in the room who's eyes did not meet his, but instead remained upon the floor.

"What did Monsieur Newbury say?"

"That he killed his brother to take the title of Lord Clement, because he didn't find the way in which Anton the first was ruling to be right."

Jacques' lips tugged at a smile.

"That's one such opinion of the time. Others believed Anton died naturally."

"And you?"

"The former is much more intriguing."

"Papa!"
