The sixteen year old shook her head.

The brunette shuffled uncomfortably, more sure footed on ice than on solid ground. The conflict was written clear on her face. The need to be lighter competing with the necessity to eat.

"I'm also going to suggest you see Doctor Burke whenever he can fit you in. But until then, make sure your plates are clean, young lady!"

Their son looked up from his work, tiredness etched across his features. War had shook the country hard and their son had not shirked any responsibility at all.

"Papa... Sorry..."

"You need to go to bed. The work will still be there in the morning." Louis told him, moving across the solar to force his son away from the desk.

"But-"

"No buts, your Papa insists."

Jacques gaze looked as if he would argue.

"Don't make me say it as your commanding officer."

A smile tugged at the younger Clement's lips. He nodded, leaving the solar without another word.

"I'd like to see him try," he growled, grasping her more protectively.

"You look like the boy from the Bollywood films!"

Jacques looked at the staff member of the house that Mimosa had been staying at the last few months curiously.

"And Miss Mimosa looks like your dulhania."

"My..?"

"Dulhania."

"I'm afraid I don't know what that word means..."

"Bride."

Jacques sobered slightly at the mention.

"You've come to bring her home for your shaadi."

"When will Mimosa be ready to leave?" Jacques asked, not answering the staffer's question, and instead getting to the point of his visit.

Getting her back to the Palace, before she hurt herself.

He wouldn't forgive himself.

"It's me," Anna giggled, curling into the man. Alex nodded contentedly, a hand reaching instinctively under her shirt.

The door to the bathroom opened with a snap, Alex's date for the evening appeared.

Alex shot up in bed.

"Really Quinn? Not even the decency to let me leave first?"

"Tea for you," Jacques offered his girlfriend with a small smile.

A small groan emanated from under the duvet cover that covered her.

"Do you want something to eat?"

Silence.

"What about a hot water bottle?"

Still nothing.

"Alright, I'll be back."

"I hate you."

"I love you, too, Kiran. The pain will ease." Jacques replied softly as he left the room to go find the food, hot water bottle and tablets to help ease the pain she always experienced each month. He'd learned early on that the witch suffered quite badly, and the best ways to combat her pain.

Scott's features moved in to one of amusement as he pointed up at the moon.

"We... really could have seen this... from down there!"

"True, but I wouldn't have seen you like this."

"A hot, sweaty mess?"

"That's not something I haven't seen before." Scott returned with a laugh, Tessa thumped his chest for good measure.

"Also..."

The boy was quite hesitant as he drew her closer to him.

But the brush of his lips against his dancing partner's would be much more confident than anything else.

"Mimosa..." Jacques replied, a soft sigh escaping his lips because he didn't know what to say. "You haven't done anything wrong. Why would you think there's something you could possibly do wrong?"

No answer came as the witch's eyes welled with tears.

"I just always saw you as my little sister. I've never... seen you in a romantic light." He admitted, because that was the truth of the matter. Mimosa had come to the Palace as a small child, and Jacques had done exactly like his Maman had asked.

"You know I would give you anything you asked for..."
