Jackson swallowed, trying to sound normal. "Hey champ, it's dad. I hope you're taking good care of your mom for me. I miss you two."

He talked to his wife and unborn child a while longer, never once revealing that he was being prepped for emergency surgery as he spoke.

The Lord Clement watched carefully from the window of his solar, two young adults walked across the Palace lawn, but not the two that it should have been. He'd remained quiet on the subject that now haunted the Palace, but it was abundantly clear what the Palace's stance was.

Time would heal all of the Palace's wounds, but for now they were left with the sight of what could have been.

But what the Lady Clement would never allow.

Jacques and Azalea would have been an almost perfect fit.

Louis' wife's happiness would always be more important to him, though.

The young blonde didn't reply, simply hearing her name and keeling to the stone floor. The rough bandages around her stomach were already seeping blood and her face was deathly pale. She smelled of smoke and gunpowder and her tattered clothing revealed more cuts and bruises than her tiny body could possibly take.

How she had managed to make the journey to the eastern base where Tarragon was stationed, no one would ever know. The only thought that had propelled her was that she could not die without seeing him first.

Without telling him she loved him too.

"Are you sure he's gay?" Jake asked, as yet another move of his niece's ice skating championship proved to be rather intimate.

"Of course, only gay men want to be ice dancers." Jackson replied shortly, though the whiteness in his knuckles said something different as he held on to the chair before him.

"I'm not so sure..." Jake replied, his own fingers curling in to a fist by his side.

"I've read that to be good at ice skating, most dance partners usually sleep together." Ivan commented simply.

Both men turned to look at each other.

"We'll kill him together."

The blond boy looked up at the old man, his eyes colder than someone his age had any right to be. The tutor flinched a little.

Still, the man had a job to do. If it was about money, he would have resigned a long time ago. No, it was his fear that kept him shackled to the Murray estate.

"A for?"

The child grinned sinisterly, making the man shudder. "Accio, Darr."

The world was such a perfect place in this moment. Everything just stopped pressing in from all the sides, you didn't have to think about anything at all, and the brief moment of respite...

"Jake?"

"Mmm..."

"Did you hear what I said?"

"No..."

"Victoria and her Quidditch team are going to be here in a hour. You need to get yourself cleaned up and help me get the rooms ready."

"Five more minutes."

A sigh came from Azalea as she untangled herself from him, but Jake knew it was only playful.

"It's not my fault you haven't lost your touch!"

"Pandora's box is from Greek mythology." Ivan explained patiently to Mimosa as they worked through the information needed for her upcoming visit to Greece. "It's a tale about how Pandora opened a box and let out curses upon Mankind."

"Okay, can I go and see my Jacques now?"

The Newbury boy grimaced slightly, before pulling a sheet of paper towards him.

"M'lady, we still have all these subjects to cover before you can go." He explained patiently, though truthfully the list was five times longer than it needed to me.

So that she could stay here longer.

With only him.

Keys moved below Elenore's fingers, yet the notes she played didn't register in her ears. Another's fingers may have shook with the news that lay before them, but not Elenore's. News of this magnitude should have brought forth a beautiful symphony, but not Elenore.

The scan sat upon the grand piano, clear for anyone who walked in to see.

Kit wasn't due home for a few more hours.

By that time, she would have to turn the stillness inside of her to happiness.

That was what you were supposed to feel when you found our you were expecting, after all.
