The blonde turned back to her work. "I guess I did."

The accountant crouched down beside her. "I didn't ask you to do that."

"I know, I wanted to. He made me choose, so I chose you."

Alex remained quiet, making her look up at him.

"It doesn't have to mean anything, they were just words."

"Yes... I suppose they were..."

Alex blew smoke up in to the air above him, a soft, silent sigh escaping his lips.

"Why don't you just tell her you love her?"

The accountant paused, looking across at the brunette beside him with a confused expression.

"Don't play dumb, it doesn't look good on you."

"I don't think she feels the same. Our friendship is more important than anything else."

"You're stupid, for a clever person."

"You talk too much for someone who came to hook up." Alex replied playfully, putting out the cigarette and rolling back towards the witch with a kiss to silence those questions.

Azalea looked from Jake's bulging eyes to Joshua's steely gaze.

"I will return to Murray Manor."

"And?"

"I want to return."

"And..."

"I... I belong to you," she admitted defeatedly,

Joshua smiled.

"She'll... come around."

Jacques gave a soft sigh which drew the witch closer to him. "I really don't think that's going to happen." The Frenchman admitted unwillingly. Elenore was complicated that way, and he doubted anything was going to change.

Azalea's fingers draw light circles in to his shoulder muscles, making the boy lean in closer, drinking in the smell of her hair and perfume that he'd never been able to place. When she'd become this much of a comfort, he couldn't say.

"Families are good fun that way, huh?" Azalea asked.

"You have no idea, at all." Jacques replied.

The roll of the eyes from Azalea brought a grin to the man's lips.

"What was that for?" He asked, amusement seeping in to each word.

"And what do I go as? M?"

Jake laughed, shaking his head.

"Of course not, you go as my Bond girl!"

"To a work event?"

"Yes."

"At the school?"

"I can see you're trying to talk me out of this, but I can't work out why..."

"I'm the headmistress, Jake!" Azalea reminded him as she swatted his hands away from the plate she hadn't finished plating up.

Blankly, she reached out for the string of beads on offer. It wasn't pretty, but if it could make him love her...

Taking it, she tossed her entire purse at the salesman.

"Why do we do this to ourselves?" Jake asked, clearly disgruntled by the idea of going to see the modern day version of Grease. "They're going to take all the fun out of the movie. There's clearly going to be a token gay or transperson as one of the Thunderbirds!"

"Because we're supporting Andrew."

"Sandy better still be one hundred percent woman, or I'm walking out!"

The swat to his arm was enough for Jake to know that he wasn't entirely on his own with the sentiment, but Azalea was trying to make a show of admonishing him.

"Behave."

Louis motioned to the pots as he hurried across the final space in the dahliatelle, a triumphant look on his face. It was Valentine's night, and he'd insisted they headed out to the gardens that evening. "I know it's not your favourite, but it was all I could grab before the chef would notice."

It was nearing midnight, the twelve year olds were not supposed to be awake, let alone in the gardens of the Palace.

"Happy Valentine's Day, ma cherie." The Frenchman cooed gently, passing her the sticky toffee pudding and pressing a kiss to her cheek.
