Background
James was the only child to his parents and grew up with pretty much everything he needed. His upbringing was centered around all things Muggle, and until his eleventh birthday, James was convinced that magic was only a myth. Though, it did come to explain how their dogs fur had turned pink one too many times, or how things broke even when no one was near him when he wasn't getting his own way.

When he arrived at Hogwarts, James was sorted in to Ravenclaw for his intelligence, and he thrived in that house, finishing school with good grades.

After leaving Hogwarts, James left to go to university, studying Potions as his main topic. Once more he thrived in the situation and found himself coming out with the highest honours. From there, he went to the Ministry of Magic for a couple of years, helping with the design of new potions until the job for Potions Professor came available at Hogwarts.
